Odd Car-Cell Phone Interaction

My car recently suffered a short or some other electrical malady. The turn signals and the defroster stopped working. The wierd thing is, I turned my cell phone on in the driver’s seat, and the turn signal worked again (just once).

Could there be some connection or was it just coincidence that the turn signal worked right when I powered up the phone?
I haven’t repeated the experience, but I think I will when my phone’s battery is charged up again.

Was the cell phone plugged into the car when this happened?

If not, it’s probably a coincidence. I’d check the fuse panel. Odds are both devices are controlled by the same circuit.

Just as an aside that may save you some money, I had a turn signal that worked intermittently. It turned out the flasher module was not fully seated in the fuse block, under the dash on the drivers side in my case. A simple push on the flasher module fixed the problem.

The cell phone wasn’t plugged into the car - perhaps it was merely coincidence.
