Odd MS Works 4.5 behavior

I use Works 4.5 for my word processor/database/spreadsheet needs. I recently started keeping copies of my files from my desktop (Win ME) on my laptop (Win98). I have noticed that when I open a word processor file on the laptop, the alignment is off. What were once neatly tabbed paragraphs now have words not wrapping correctly. Both computers have exactly the same setup.

What gives?

Do they (the computers) share the same fonts as well? If not, install the fonts from WinME onto your laptop. Does the desktop and laptop have the same screen resolution? Same default printer setup?

I’ll have to verify the resolution, but they share the same font (Arial). The laptop is not connected to a printer, but I suppose I could install the same one I’m using with the desktop.

I checked the resolutions:

laptop: LCD display; 24bit true color; 800x600
desktop: standard cathode ray-type; 32bit true color; 800x600

The same problem occurs when copying files from the laptop to the desktop.

I am bewildered.

Okay, load the same printer driver onto the laptop that’s on your desktop and make it the default printer. It could be that each computer is formatting the document for the default printer. It could also be that the operating systems themselves or the differences in the printer driver (even though it’s for the same printer, they differ between OS’s) are causing this . Do you have another Win98 machine that you could load the doc on?
