Odd of winning Hearts

I also forgot to mention that a 30 day free trial is offered on the silvercrk website

I have played 2709 games of Hearts (I know, I should get a life!) on my computer and won 1663 of them for a winning percentage of 61%.

There are some important strategies I use:

  1. remember the only thing that counts is winning. Finishing 2, 3 or 4 are exactly the same. Toward the end of the game, if I am trailing, I will try to find a way to Shoot the Moon.
  2. Don’t wait for your hand to fill before Shooting the Moon, discard cards with the aim of filling to Shoot the Moon.
  3. If an opponent suddenly leads a 6 or 7 of Hearts mid-game, beware they are often trying to Shoot the Moon…take the trick…better to lose 4 points than 26
  4. The computer hands rarely “short-suit” themselves. This means that you can take a trick with a high card early and not get punished by the Queen of Spades often.
%. Don’t be afraid to use your high heart early by taking a trick if you only have 2 or 3. It will save you many points in the long-run.

Hope this helps.

The most important tip that hasn’t been shared yet is to pass a heart that you can cover. It doesn’t have to be super low, for example if you are dealt QT52 of hearts, you should pass the T, which you can cover if absolutely necessary. You won’t always be able to cover a heart that you pass, but as long as it’s not AKQ you should pass it anyway. If you’re dealt A3 of hearts, I’m sorry, you pass the 3. Taking 4 points is obviously preferable to taking 26.

This is very important when playing online versus other humans; so important, in fact, that if you fail to pass a heart and someone shoots the moon “on your watch,” the other players will berate you and/or blacklist you from future games.
