Did I spell that right? Probably not.
Went out this morning. To run some errands. Accomplished nothing. Apparently Princeton is too cool for school (even Princeton) and everything is closed even on Sat.day
Found myself dejected and tired in front of some store. When this woman comes out and asks if I’m ok. I say no, I’m not that great, she says oh let me get my coat, I’ll carry your bag down to Palmer Square. (where my ride home was picking me up). Then she did.
The world needs more people like her.
Anyone else?
I got to be the good samaritan as I was driving back up from LA this last weekend. Cruising north on I5 in the middle of nowhere (most of it) and noticed an SUV on the shoulder with two guys holding up a sign that said something like “Help, we need gas”. As I went past I saw two other guys, presumably from the same SUV, walking along. It’s a long way to the next gas station.
So I note my odometer reading, haul out the cellphone and dial the CHP to let them know about a stranded motorist - once I reach the next exit or other landmark I can tell them the guys are X miles south of it. As I’m on the phone with the dispatcher and I pass by an exit, I notice that there’s another car pulled off at the exit, hood up, two girls waving for assistance. So I got a two-fer.
(As to why I didn’t pull over myself - cruising at 70mph, would have had to screech to a halt or swerve onto the exit, not a safe thing on the freeway while talking on the phone)
