Of the two, who do favor most, Michael Jackson or Donny Osmond?

Moving this to Cafe Society.

By favor, do you mean look most like? I was always told I looked like Donny Osmond when I was younger. We are of an age together, he and I. Michael too, I guess.

So by that criteria, I favor Donny Osmond.

I suppose by QtM/'s definition, I favor Michael Jackson, since I’m white and female. Heh. Somebody was going to say it.

But as far as musically goes, it’s still Michael Jackson. I don’t care if Donny Osmond is a little bit rock’n’roll or if he has a technicolor dreamcoat, ain’t nobody going to take Thriller away from me.

I remember in the early 1970s when the Osmonds and the Jackson Five (focusing on Donny and Michael respectively) always seemed to be placed in direct competition.

Years later, it seems obvious that Michael’s musical achievements are lightyears greater, despite the fact that he’s a trainwreck of a human being.

To Donny’s credit, he does have a sense of humor about his squeaky-clean image – he’s at least trying to get it. Also, he does seem to have a talent for the business side of music (in addition to living by the principles he espouses in his personal life). He’s a good citizen.

But he misunderstands the appeal of edgier music, and he can’t seem to accept that lots of people don’t think he’s a major musical talent: I remember seeing him on ‘60 Minutes’ circa 1987 saying that people would take him seriously if he were to get busted. Puh-leeze.

In music (and lots of other endeavors), the greatest achievers are usually pretty messed up people.

Yea but,… Donny Osmond made an appearance on Cartoon Network right alongside Jhonny Bravo…(wait, now that I think about it, Jhonny Bravo didn’t like him either)"

Donny Osmond. Because according to the song, Department of Youth, on Alice Cooper’s Welcome to my Nightmare album, Donny Osmond gave the Department of Youth “the power.”

Donny Osmond for his work in musical theatre and the Pyramid. And if you start comparing personal lives, Donny has been married to his wife for a long time and has six sons. Then there’s Michael…

Gee, that’s kind of like asking “Of the two, which do you favor most, a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, or hammering a nail into your ear?”
