Yes, I do know that I can post without paying, but paying keeps the board functioning, and it is one of the few boards that has a low asshole ratio.

But the point I was trying to make was that Guin said she only remained a charter member for the discount, and I suggested an option for an even bigger discount. She then waffled and said that that there were other “perks” that kept her a charter member.
I’d like to know more about these perks. Is there something other than having your location and post count show? I’m open to being convinced that becoming a Charter Member again is worth it.
At this point, I can’t even remember – other than no ads, what ARE the perks anymore? Well, that and post-count view. Seriously, I’m not being sarcastic.

Mostly the no ads thing, but at this point, I’m seriously starting to reconsider. It’s not like I care about sigs anymore, and I’m not about to buy a custom title.
You can still have a sig if you’re not a charter member.
I’m glad they made this offer. I was out of the country (and out of internet communications for several months) when my account was up for renewal at some point, and it lapsed. When I got back I renewed the account, but was told via PM that there was no way to get the CM title back once you let it lapse. C’est la vie.
Personally, I see this more as another way to support the board I enjoy posting to…sort of like the custom titles thing. Of all the boards I used to post to, this is really the only (non-technical) board I still do so on anything like a regular basis, and if I can contribute a little bit to keep it up and running then, well, it’s really not that much of a hardship.

Members don’t see ads, can get custom titles and post profile pictures, their locations and post counts are displayed, and they can store more private messages - 200 vs., I think, 50 for guests. I think that’s everything.

I am so glad to hear this! I really hate those ads, and I’m one of the ones who lapsed accidentally. Do we get our real post count back or does it start all over again? (not that it matters either way). I just hope the offer lasts at least until Monday - I can’t - or won’t - try to purchase anything from an iPod…
