Officer Rivieri Builds Bridges Among Baltimore's Youth (R.O.)

Ladies and gentlemen of the Dope, meet Officer Rivieri.

Officer Rivieri is a man with two significant problems. The first problem is that he’s an inadequate, abusive, piece of shit bullying pigfucker maggot should-have-been-a-blowjob shit for brains cunt. The second problem, if that weren’t enough, is that he’s just been busted for it. He was caught on camera ripping some scrawny 13 year old kid to shreds for almost five minutes for the heinous crime of calling him “Dude”. During this exchange Officer Rivieri quietly intimated to the young tearaway that continued disrespect would earn him “A smack upside the head”, that such egregious discourtesy could get him killed, and that he obviously wasn’t being beaten enough at home. At one point he wrestled this kid, who must’ve weighed about eight stone, to the ground in order to confiscate his skateboard, the simple expedient of asking for it having seemingly been dismissed as too pussy.

Hilariously, the video ends with this dumb fuck FINALLY noticing the camera that’s filmed the entire exchange and saying “Put the camera away. I’d better not find myself on…”. What? Find yourself on what Officer? The SDMB? YouTube? Fucking ABC News, you bullet headed cunt?

I circulate this because I want to do my part in the permanent dismissal of Officer Rivieri. I would dearly love to be a cog in the gearbox of a machine working ineluctably to ensure that this maggot never holds a position of responsibility again. I would like you, if possible, to join me in registering your disgust with the Baltimore Police Department and add to the growing chorus of voices calling for the unequivocal dismissal of this pathetic pile of human wreckage.

I missed the edit window. Here’s the mailing address of the Mayor of Baltimore.

You have to respect a police department whose headquarters is next to a strip club. Being near Washington, Baltimore too often gets a pass for its pure disfuntionalism. I understand a gang is stealing the streetlights now. The big ones, the kind that are next to freeway intersections.

The police have no clue. So to speak.

George Kaplin, I’ve removed the contact info you posted. Please note, from the Forum Rules:

Sorry Giraffe. I didn’t know that was against the rules.

If Baltimore is having their police officers dress in this ridiculous manner I suspect further rageaholic outbursts may be the result. Putting a douchebag like this in a clown suit in a clown car is clearly not a good idea. Give him brass buttons, a blue coat, and a Crown Vic and maybe he’ll be able to reign his shit in.
Seriously reminiscent of Cartman!

I normally come down on the side of the cops in most of these anti-authority threads, mainly because usually they are right and the people against them are usually just throwing childish tantrums of resistance to authority, but in this case I agree wholeheartedly. MY CITY HAS A MURDER RATE OF 40/100K AND YOU’RE HASSLING TEENAGERS AT HARBORPLACE OVER SKATEBOARDS YOU WORTHLESS PRICK??? Get your fat ass over to the Western and try that shit on the corner boys there, we’ll see how tough you really are. Christ! All the crime we got here and you waste your time on this. I hope you get fired and lose your pension. The city has a deplorable tendency to do that to good cops, shot in the line; I hope they railroad it right up your fat ass. Do not pass 20 years, do not collect any money, go directly to fail.

Oy, that outfit. It reminds me of what Dave Barry said about small dogs being perpetually hostile and aggressive because of their stupid-looking haircuts…

Honestly I’m not feeling the rage. The cop seemed to begin professionally enough but the kid’s attitude set him off and even one of the kid’s friends told him to shut up, but he apparently doesn’t know what shutting up and not getting the last word in means and frankly getting called “dude” repeatedly would piss me off too.

Sorry, no Rodney King here.

Who doesn’t? The cop or the kid? Seems like it’s the cop who’s determined to die on this hill. He got the last word by confiscating the skateboard, but then being called “dude” is such an egregious insult, he just has to come back and keep getting in the kid’s face. And honestly, he comes off like a fed-up middle-school band instructor, not an officer of the law. I started laughing halfway through.

Yes, I know you could say that getting a 14 y/ to respect authoritah is important, so he doesn’t become another dangerous criminal down the line. But personally, I don’t think the average thrasher is at risk to become a criminal. Yeah, they generally have attitude, but they probably would anyway, and it’s an outlet that can prevent criminal activity. Enforce the skating ordinances, sure, but then go find some real criminals.

Another problem I have with the video is the cop seems to keep reacting to something the kid is doing or saying yet while we can clearly see and hear the cop I can barely make out anything the kid is saying and I can’t see what he’s doing until the cop takes his board away.

The cop did seem to be reacting to the one kid’s behavior and not the others and we can’t see or hear what it was that set the cop off. Why was the cop going off on this one kid and not his friends?

That’s a big one. It always seems in these types of videos that the action starts when the cop starts yelling, before we see what caused the cop to escalate the situation; or in this case, we can’t really hear what the kid is saying. While it can’t be argued that the cop acted professionally in this situation by telling the kid that he’d “give him something to cry about”, I always wonder how much more there is to the story that the limited perspective that is granted in this youtube-esque clip.

ETA: Just watched it again. The kids friend was telling him to shut up, so somebody besides the cop thought he was acting out of line.

More likely the other kid was a little more street smart and new that the psycho in yello was going to overreact to anything said.

Dont get defensive or your going to spend time in juvie? Getting defnensive is an arrestable offense now?

Assaulting the kid and stealing his skateboard?

I used to see cops do this kind of crap in texas all the time, but they were smart enough to do it away from the general public and video cameras. the cop should be charged with assault of a minor and possibly strong arm robbery.

There’s a big difference between telling your buddy to not say anything to the angry man yelling at you, and agreeing that he’s done something wrong.

Here’s another vote for Diomedes’ interpretation. When you’re talking about 14-year-old skater kids, I would assume that “shut up” doesn’t mean “hey, you’re not behaving like a respectable citizen”, it means “dude, you’re gonna get us all in jail, and I ain’t gonna say shit when you get raped”.

Well, the kid had done something wrong, he was skateboarding where he wasn’t supposed to be. By acting out of line, I meant “acting in a way that he shouldn’t”, in other words, don’t be a smart ass to the angry man yelling at you.

Again, I’m not saying that the cop was in any way in the right, or acted in any way professional with his escalation of the situation. But the kid was being a smart ass, and if he wasn’t, this situation never would have manifested.

The cop was probably just taking out his anger of the little buggy they gave him to patrol in!

But the kid wasn’t being a smart ass. He just wasn’t being deferential. Rivieri didn’t want respect. He wanted submission. And he flew into a rage at the first hint that he wasn’t going to get it. Fuck him. He’s a cunt.

[sub]Edit: Although I do agree that the buggy probably had something to do with it  [/sub]

The officer comes across as a prick, but the kid doesn’t have the brains he was born with and is a smartass. It’s perfectly clear that the video isn’t telling the whole story - when the kids are sat down at the end, what are they saying, for instance? Rivieri reacts to something that’s inaudible.

Wow, just wow. Fuck you people defending this prick, lousy excuse for an officer. I don’t care that the asshat has a clownsuit for a uniform, or that he was having a bad day, or that his partner ate the last doughnut.

Being called “dude” is not an excuse to act with extreme unprofessionalism, assault a 14 year old 1/10th his size, threaten to kill him (cause the last bit was nothing short of a veiled death threat), and STEAL his fucking skateboard.

The scum bag was on a power trip, the kid did not bow down to his authoritah, and his macho neanderthal thugh side emerged, as it probably does whenever he thinks he can get away with it.

I’ve had the misfortune of meeting asshole cops like this. Had them punch me, threaten to kill me, threaten my mother and generally be corrupt shit bags. (And if you’re curious, the reasons - in order - were: Asking why I had to leave a public park in the middle of the day - the reason turned out to be he didn’t like the music Iw as playing on my guitar, after witnessing a cop punching an elderly homeless person, and because my mom asked the police to perform a sobriety test on the guy who just smashed into her car - turned out he was a cop)

It pisses me off that there are always some clueless pricks who will always dismiss this type of crap with a wave of the hand and a “He should of known better”, as though kissing a police officer’s ass is expected or whatever comes your way is deserved. Fuck you.

It boggles the mind that if a tape of me berating a client in my line of work and assaulting him as this cop did the tiny teenager, were to be played everyone in this thread would think I was psycho and would expect nothing short of my termination from my job and possible jail time. But because he’s a police officer things change? Someone care ot enlighten me as to the hell why??

“Stop calling me dude” is very funny.

One of the funniest lines was, “are you from the county?” (IOW, “you seem like a molly-coddled brat.”) It was actually going through my mind when I was watching those kids. Turns out he was from Anne Arundel county.
