Official 2006 Election Pit Thread [mild to start]

If he wins the White House, or Kerry gets the Dem nomination somebody better make sure I’ve got plenty of meds, or I’m going to go all Oswald on 'em.

You’re going to turn into a rabbit?

Yup. The kind that hangs out in book depositories.

Philadelphia had electronic voting machines, and has had them ever since I started voting. The panel is very large and covered with rows of LED-illuminated buttons. The LEDs shine through a paper overlay that have the candidates printed on it. There’s no paper printout, and no option for paper ballots.

But yeah, first thing I did was hammer down the button for Casey while thinking something about it being time to change the sheets. Ended up voting straight Democrat. Although I don’t like Allyson Schwartz that much (US rep), Raj Bhakta is a clown with no political experience. And, of course, I voted against Perzel, but he still won.

Thank you for the link! I almost peed my pants reading it!
Heeee!

AP’s calling VA. for Webb!

Is the Associated Press typically reliable in this sort of thing? Everyone else I’ve been able to check is still saying that it’s too close to call.

I dunno, but NBC has joined 'em.

At some point you have to say somebody’s won, if only to give you a legal basis for the recount.

CNN is playing it coy: “Democrats win control of the Senate from Republicans with a victory in Virginia, AP and Reuters report.”

Yep, Keith announced it when he came back from a break.

Alas, poor Macacallen, we knew yee all too well. Or something.

Wow. The Republican chokehold on the federal government shattered in one glorious spasm. Two more branches to go, folks!

And all of Bush’s appointees for judgeships must pass Go in the Senate before they can collect their $200.

I voted at 11:30 AM, and was #41. Pretty heavy turnout for my voting place. (Buttston Volunteer Fire Dept.)

All of my candidates at the local and state level won. Some demmies and some pubbies, but that’s the way I vote. My main concern was the Road Commissioner race. The lady that’s got it now does a good job so I’m glad she got re-elected.

It’s a sad state of affairs, but I believe us citizuns is better off when one party has the White House and the other has congress. Then we get the desired gridlock and none of the dip-shits can do the things they want to do.

Guess if it looks like the demmies will be keeping congress in ‘08, I’ll be votin’ for whom-so-ever the pubbies run for president.

Best quote I heard: Kay Ivey, Alabama’s State Treasurer, commenting on her re-election: “When you handle all the money you get to know a lot of stuff.”
