Does a virus have a “point” other than to reproduce?
Smith IS a virus.
I can confirm what InuMondo said regarding the Oracle: it’s a new actress, 'cause the old one’s dead. I played the video game, and lo and behold, new bitch. I think they even actually address this switch in the dialogue somehow.
FTR, the new actress is teh suck.
Note: if Smith has taken over every inhabitant of the Matrix, is there any point in not just pulling the plug and killing him and all (well, most) of the machines concurrently? Not much point in releasing billions of Smiths into the real world.
Robert, the Smiths can’t just release themselves. So there are still real humans plugged into the Matrix. The people in Zion just can’t release any more humans. Also, Zion’s about to be destroyed.
Wow, the situation’s looking bleak for the humans.
The Smiths have completely destroyed the controlled environment of the Matrix, and the Matrix is probably falling apart, being corrupted by Smith. If the system crashes, the machines will lose their main source of power.
Wow, looking bleak for the machines.
Ian Fan, the scripts are fake. All the screenshots are from released material. The creator of the first one has already stepped forward.
In response to the Oracle being played by a different actress, apparently the Wachowski’s had planned to do that all along. The Oracle has taken on a new form because she is trying to keep a low profile within the Matrix (basically hide from Smith and the Merovingian).
I’m expecting the movie to be largely incoherent, but I’ll admit Hugo Weaving has a cool evil laugh.
I don’t like the idea that Zion is just another matrix, but the more I think about it, the more likely it seems. It would explain how Neo can control the robot, and it would deal with the fact that the whole idea of using humans as a power source is physically implausible.
I’d say that it’s pretty obvious that the Plague O’ Smiths will crash the system. The kovie will probably end with one of two scenarios:
A: Zion is saved and the Smiths are deleted out of existance. The people in the Matrix go back to normal. Or…
B: Neo realizes that Zion is not real either, and makes the entire invasion force (and maybe Zion itself) simply vanish, bringing everybody into the Real World.
Wouldn’t it be wild if the Machine World/Zion is another maxtrix, but the machines don’t know it? IOW, the robots and programs think that they inhabit the real world, but in fact they’re unwittingly trapped inside a matrix themselves.
Except for the fact that Keanu Reeves came right out in an interview after Reloaded and said that it WASN’T another level of the Matrix.
kovie? maxtrix?
Let’s see if I can spell “proofread” correctly :o
In the grand scheme of things, though, does that really mean anything?
There’s no way to know that those are real; there were hoax scripts posted on the internet for the new Star Wars movies too. (The hoaxes were better than the movies :o )
Anyway, speculating is fun.
If Zion is another level of the Matrix, why does Neo say “Impossible” when he recognizes Bane as Smith in the trailer? Hmm? If Zion is another level of the Matrix, Smith getting into it would be no more remarkable than my downloading of the trailer.
Well maybe he hasn’t figgered it out yet.
Step 2: Steal underpants
My favorite theory is the one that says “The Matrix” is the name of a new kind of drug that Neo took in the first movie i.e.- the red pill.
Everything since then has been a hallucinogenic trip.
My sincerest hope is that at the end of the third film, Neo wakes up in a bathtub filled with ice with his kidneys missing.
That would almost work!
Except Neo had the bug pulled out of his tummy before he took the pill.
Well, then obviously it was all a dream from the moment he encountered Agent Smith for the first time. And so then Magnum PI ends up in heaven…
And Patrick Duffy will step out of the shower.
Here’s a most interesting connection:
Do you remember when Neo et al. were walking into the Merovingian’s restaurant, and Neo catches a glimpse of one of the Merovingian’s goons pushing a guy out of the way? Well, the man being pushed away is the same guy as the Indian dude in the Mobil Ave. subway stop in the trailer.
I’ve heard the crazy dude who hits Neo in the subway - referred to as “Trainman” - was in the Enter The Matrix video game. What was his role there? I run Linux, so unfortunately I’ll never be able to enjoy ETM.
UnuMondo
He tells Neo that the “last time,” it only took three days to destroy Zion.
