Oglaf appreciation thread - very NSFW - hilarious pornographic webcomic

It’s not a matter of men on quests taking it up the ass. It’s a matter of men, no matter what they’re doing, ending up taking it up the ass. Is it really any more bizarre than male fantasies so often involving lesbian sex?

I agree that this week’s comic is a bit weak.

On the plus side, I did learn a new word - Oubliette, meaning a dungeon with access only from a ceiling hatch (hence the elevator the characters use to visit ‘her ladyship’)

I think the comic is better without the second page.

I agree. The Winter Queen being all nicey-nice and sending him off with a basket of snacks would have been a fine end. Really, she would never send a Seeker off on a snipe hunt; you know the directions she gave would have been to somplace wher he would find Justice (even if, being as she is not really very bright, she might have a confused idea of what normals mean by the word).

Well, one of the strip’s first men-on-a-quest ended up transformed into a hot young chick, but we never got to see where THAT led.

“Oh, no, terribly sorry, this here is Abuse… you want Argument, it’s two doors down.” That’s what the Queen’s sequence reminds me of…

The Winter Queen is not mean but her experience is that when she hurts someone it’s an entirely unintentional incident while seeking pleasure (and evidently no human has ever showed up at her lair seeking to do anything but sex her up…).

But the Oglaf universe has an interesting notion of justice, as astro reminds us.

The man seeking revenge for something that is impossible to seek revenge for, in the name of “justice”, might as well indeed just punish some stranger at random as a scapegoat, and he should have realized when seeing the scene at the Oubliette of Justice, that he will never get anything but bullshit, not justice. Instead he has to be sent to the Sauna of Enlightenment, where he is now failing to realize he IS being stupid.

That’s a lot more thought than I care to put in my webcomics.

Yep, Oglaf is reaching shark jump point in my mind. The first page was quite funny but the strip seems increasingly one trick pony. The author penned a decent first page, but then just couldn’t resist another page so that she could indulge the apparent fact that she finds it uproariously funny that some guy ends up getting it in the ass.

It was a bit funny the first few times but now it’s just boring.

At least we mix it up a bit.

There’s another motivation for the male buttfuckery. As the author puts it:

(Quote was stolen from this interview.)

Just a warning on **MostlyClueless’ **link: I tried to go there and was blocked by our work filter, so may be NSFW.

OK, since I’m bored right now, I went and counted all of the Oglaf strips with sex acts, and what the primary sex act is in each.

Lesbians: 9
Men penetrating women: 21
Women penetrating men: 4
Gay men: 12
Men masturbating: 10
Other: 2

It looks to me like the artist is mixing it up a bit, too, and lesbians and “conventional” couplings account for over half of the sex strips. Although there’s a notable shortage of women masturbating by themselves.

I can’t speak for others but for my part the problem isn’t that the artist isn’t mixing it up, it’s using “and then two guys had sex” as a punchline.

Speaking only for myself, I am so totally okay with that.

Yeah, same here. Every cartoonist working to deadline is bound to turn in a rather routine and un-sparkling strip now and then. If the default Oglaf punchline for routine strips ends up being male-on-male buttsex, fine by me.

(I agree that the more sparkling and original strips are more fun, though, whether they involve buttsex or not.)

Wouldn’t Rigor Mortis go in that category?

It does, doesn’t it? But there are only so many combinations of (as Joe Haldeman puts it) “holes and poles” to, um, play with.

Still a very funny strip.

I’m also OK with this. Apparently I’m a gay man trapped in a woman’s body.

I was putting each strip into only one category, for the sake of simplicity. Rigor Mortis I classified as “gay”, because the zombies all seem to be male. I only listed it as “masturbation” if that was the only sex going on in the strip.

New comic.
