I think this week’s couple are the plainest looking people we’ve ever seen in the comic.
Except that they weren’t “suddenly looking pleased and holding hands…” (my emphasis). Look at their faces. They start out deadpan and gradually get more excited. I, like Malacandra, thought it was building to something and went looking for a second page.
Upon review, I disagree.
In both panels 5 and 7 (which bracket the “Heh, Look At Us Go” of panel 6), the newlywed couple (well, maybe they are not married, not sure) has pretty much the same ‘somewhat pleased’ expressions. In panel 8, they hold hands, have bigger smiles and apparently are blushing some. The ending works just fine.
The only question remaining is what happened to the blonde…prostitute’s stocking tops in panel 6…
I thought that he was just holding her hand after seeing where the prostitute’s hand was going in the last panel.
Funniest one in a while, IMO.

I thought it was pretty funny. I liked the “throwing anus”.
That’s what I thought also: the innocent young couple were both turned on and a bit embarrassed by this extreme act of very advanced sexual technique. (“Kids, don’t try this at home!”)

The “battle babe” meme is common, but I’d never heard of engulfing weapons only. I can think of Wonder Woman and her lasso and that’s about it. Can anyone give a cite?

That joke is making fun of feminists, not warrior women. There are actual real life (nutso) feminists who reject “phallic” items in favour of “enveloping” items. They’re the sort of women who insist that they’re “womyn”.
It’s called a chakram, if you’re interested.
I think there are lots of whip-wielding women: Catwoman, for one.
More to the point, from the dialog in the final frames it’s making fun of faux-“feminist” fantasy scenarios wherein the women are to reject thrusting weapons BUT get to still battle around in strippergear armor and with perfect hair.
Cite? I figured the comic was poking fun at over zealous feminists by being absurd about the ‘engulfing’ weapons. The humor comes from the fact that they are exaggerating. I can’t believe there are so called feminists out there who honestly 'reject phallic items in favor of ‘enveloping items’.
Amy Schumer’s show last week had a gang bang skit where she said her vagina would not be penetrated by their penises, she would engulf their penises with her vagina.
When I read this week’s I wondered if she had seen that skit.

after all, conventional weapons have the designs they do because they work. Incidentally many penises across the animal kingdom are vaguely cylindrical. :rolleyes: Clearly any person wielding a corkscrew in self defense wants to be a male duck :rolleyes:
