oh boy again. computer help pls?

I have a problem in alot of proggies, the lastest being “couldnt find msoe.dll to load outlook express”. I used norton cleansweep to archive duped files and whatnot. is there a way to just undo those archives and go back to the demi-paradise i once lived in?

The only time I received a message like that was when I tried to reinstall a customized version of OE (ISP’s logos were plastered everyone in OE) with the regular version of OE.

The only thing that I got the program working again was to reinstall the customized version. :frowning: Fortunately, the ISP’s logos were stored in a seperate file and I deleted those ugly logos out.

You can try the system file checker “sfc” from a Run box and tell it to restore msoe.dll from your windows CD. But it might be an old version that won’t work anyway.

Go to the Control Panel on your Desktop and double-click Add/Remove programs. Look for ‘Microsoft Internet Explorer’ Click the ‘Remove’ button and an additional menu will come up which will give you the option to Repair Internet Explorer.

You can also access this Feature from the Desktop by clicking “Start–>Programs–>Accessories–>System Tools–>System Information” and select ‘Internet Explorer Repair Tool’ from the programs Tools menu.

So i should dl outlook express from micrsoft.com and reinstall? Will I lose all the mailbox setups? What i dont get is if Norton archives the files in case of a problem like this, doesnt it make sense I should be able to unarchive them?

i’ve never used norton cleansweep, but i would imagine it archives files in a way specific to that program. so, do exactly what you did before, but don’t execute. it should give you the option to name the archive file, and in seeing this, you can determine the default name and extension of the file. then do a search for that file, click on it, and see what happens.

Did I mention when it rains, it pours? Cant add/remove IE5 cuz setupwvb.dll cant be found" What is the point of archiving if i cant unarchive?

LOL, ok i panicked. One tends to do that when NOTHING on their computer works. I figured out how to restore though I wish they made the button bigger and flash green and run a .wav saying “Everything will be oooooookkkkkkk.”

thanks for the help all!
