I agree completely, but he appears to be saying folks in Briton should start stocking supplies for the next period of glaciation, the birth of which will start as early as 15 years from now, when the Gulf Stream conveyer completely collapses. None of these things are a certainty. Worth dealing with climate change seriously? Absolutely. But this guy is clearly talking about an accelerated worst-case scenerio, which is highly unlikely.
Wow, has the earth ever had an ice age before? Were conservative Republicans to blame for the others? According to This Site,
So global warming very well may be causing some of this most recent climatic change, but even relatively small natural events can really screw up the weather world-wide. I’m not saying that we just throw greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere with reckless abandon, or that global warming isn’t an issue (I think it is, actually!), just that natural events that man cannot control happen with fair regularity.
The climate of this planet has been changing for a long time, a long time before man, even conservative Republican man, has been around. We may be altering the pattern of change to some degree, but all the liberal Democrats on the face of the planet won’t be able to stop an ice age when nature decides to throw one our way. Sorry guys.
I hope my cites weren’t too right wing.
We also must worry about the Mongolian Death Worm.
This guy’s crazed Malthusian ramblings don’t have much of anything to do with global warming’s validity. It is to laugh. (aside: what the hell does “it is to laugh” mean anyway? That sentence makes no sense except taken as an idiom.)
Anyone want to bet me that the average temp in Great Britain will drop at least 5 degrees celsius over the next 25 years? I’ll even give you 4-1 odds.
The fact that this article even mentioned that horrific joke of a movie also sometimes known as The Day After Tomorrow makes me question the credibility. Also, rather than simply report the results of the Cambridge scientists, the author goes on to build a case that an extremely sudden climate change is coming.
Speaking of those Cambridge scientists, what were their names? What was the title and focus of their project? What were their exact words on the subject? Oh right, the article didn’t have any of that. Zarquon forbid we actually quote or name our sources so that the readers can follow up and think for themselves. And, it gets better. He ends the article by advertising his own book! This is not journalism in any sense of the word.
Ok, so there is something going on here, as evidenced by the cited articles in CNN, the Times, etc, but there’s no way it’s as serious as this person makes it out to be. Bottom line, this article is not where you want to be getting your information about any would-be climate crises.
That’s an . . . interesting message board they’ve got over there. Check out this thread:

I don’t know why everyone is so worried; that same site says we’ll only have one more Pope before the world ends.
Man is this thread title ever misleading. I thought this was going to be another freeway rant about being stuck behind one of these.
Um…well…I suppose there has to be a message board for everybody, whack jobs included.
The first thing I thought of was this.
Yes you do. I’ve already provided the link. Keep on shooting a bullet-ridden messenger if you want, but it doesn’t make your point any stronger.
Yeah, and maybe the Thames will make like it’s gonna actually feel like freezing over.
