Oh crap, what did I miss in this episode of CSI?

I was distracted for surely less than 30 seconds, and I seem to have missed something crucial.

I saw them on a lake in a boat, looking for the little girl’s body, then I had to look away for a second, I heard “stop the boat,” then I saw her body had been found. Then I was distracted for a few seconds, then I saw that she was alive and (so to speak) well in the hospital. What did I miss? Where did they find her and why wasn’t she dead if she was in the lake? Or was that last scene some bizarre hallucination on Mr. Sensitive Policeman’s part?

They found her on the opposite shore of the lake. She was alive, but, I suspect, barely. They cut her throat, which appeared to damage her vocal cords but didn’t cut the artery.
