Oh hey this place looks reasonable - LOL NOPE

Yo dog, I heard you like service fees.

"No Violence Fighting physical or emotional abuse is not allowed Anyone caught doing so will be asked to leave.

:smack:

There are two reviews- one scathing one, lamenting that the traveler is unable to leave negative stars, and the other quote glowing, posted by someone with the same name as the owner.

Double negative - so I can do it, *and *be grossly overcharged! Woohoo!

I noticed that it’s been “viewed over 345 times in the last 48 hours”, I wonder if that’s all Dopers from this post.

For a joke I put one guest for tomorrow night:

C $14 avg. per night = $1237.32

LOL really?

I’d pay $1,100 to see that cat lift the dumbbells in picture number two.

Looks like Drea left herself a five-star review (Andrea I. from Hawaii)

When I look it’s listed as C$14!!! A night! That’s Fourteen dollars! For the random single night I picked. Total C$1,273.23

I was offered $51 for this weekend.

FWIW, Mrs. L.A. used Home Away for our accommodations in Puerto Rico and Hawaii. No hidden fees. The Hawaii place was especially nice (big house near the beach), and was only $95/night. (I guess it was the off-season, as it’s usually $130/night). I think the Condado Condo was about $100/night.

We use Home Away/VRBO all the time, and don’t run into the “hidden fees” issue. They DO charge a security deposit, which has always been promptly refunded, and a cleaning fee. So the final tab adds up to somewhat more than you first expected, but not by much.

We’ve used them to stay in Hawaii, the Olympic Peninsula, California’s wine country, and the countryside near the Cascades in Washington. I’ll never stay in a hotel again.

The way that’s written, you are REQUIRED to engage in “Violence Fighting physical or emotional abuse”, at all times. Not sure I’d be up for it anyway.

We haven’t been charged a cleaning fee. But I like to leave the place as clean as reasonably possible when we leave.

That’s what Mrs. L.A. says. She laughs at the Trivago and other commercials.

I’ve never heard of VRBO so I had a look at Estes and Winter Parks Colorado and here’s what I found - 3 adults/1 night was searched

Room Cost / Room Cost w/Taxes & Fees

215 / 352
331 / 483
425 / 596

I then looked at some ads that said “Click details for taxes and fees” figuring the fees were so outrageous they won’t even post them up front. I was wrong, with one notable exception.

219 / 247
309 / 353
355 / 744 !

I don’t see any obviously great deals .

OTOH, sites and services like it are a big reason why Hawaii residents have a hard time finding affordable housing…

Oh that is funny

The OWNER is charging extra fees for stupid stuff i doubt anyone wants.
Transportation where?
Tour of what?
What food? you bring your own
Cleaning? Lord it looks like it already needs a cleaning before you arrive.

Place looks like a total dump unless you are a meth head maybe?

Are the bicycle and surfboads authorized to give approval?

Or is it a “bicycle surfboard”?

Wouldn’t that be “emotional abuse”?

A bicycle surfboard would totally rule, and I would listen to anything it said to me, dude.

Good Vibes
