At my tutoring job, almost every day I am working, there is an unpleasant smell lingering about. Like a baby whose diaper needed changing three hours ago, or a little boy walking around blissfully unaware that his shirt is covered in vomit.
There are also people of particular nationalities who have a very…strong personal odor to them. Now, I’m the kind of person who prefers to smell neutral, that is, not bad, but also not like a cologne aisle. Most of my coworkers tend to do the same; they aren’t wearing perfume and as far as I can tell dont have any smell I can detect. I’ve been told some people’s bodily smells derive from their diets, but if that was true, then some of these people must be heating up their meals by tucking them in their armpits for a couple of hours on a hot day, because whatever they are eating, my nose cannot distinguish it from rancid body odor. If its enough to make my eyes tear up it must be something strong…
Then there’s the times one of the directors decides to stick some cabbage or something in the microwave, giving me no relief as the smell permeates the entire center (its pretty small) and leaving my work clothes with a faint cabbagey smell afterwards.
