Oh My God! They killed Kenny! (Spoilers)

He seems to be dead!!! Really!!!

But I still don’t think AIDS is funny.

Yep, so it seems. It’s understandable, though; there’s really only so much you can do with the character. Because of the muffled thing, he can’t really contribute much to gag development, and as fun as watching Kenny die is, there’s only so much you can do with it.

Heck, one of my favorite Kenny moments didn’t even involve Kenny. It was when Timmy gave his Scout rival the coat that looked just like Kenny’s with an evil grin on his face, and said rival proceeded to barely cheat death five or six times.

As for AIDS, well, generally I agree, but one Doonesbury featured an AIDS doctor treating a character (I’m afraid I forget his name) dying of it, and when Joanie also expressed concern about the humorous banter he and her friend, a patient, were exchanging, he gave a reply that I wish I could quote from memory… I’ll look it up and get back to you.

I still miss Andy Lippencot (sp) Yeah that sequence was funny, but it still makes me cry.

And I miss Freddie Mercury.

22 1/3 years ago would be like Nov. 1979, right? We didn’t know about Aids till much later, right? I was only 6 at the time so I can’t really recall correctly.

I seem to recall (I could look it up, but I’m a laaaazy man) the official “announcement” was made no later than 1981, or so. In any case, I imagine that some research was being done on this “mysterious syndrome” during 1979. Or this might just be another instance of Parker and Stone purposely inserting a mistake in a script, apparently to emphasize a character’s foolishness. (e.g., The confusion over Iraq/Iran in the Terrand and Philip April Fools Day episode that I won’t dignify with it’s true name)

…In a slightly off-topic matter, I seem to recall that an isolated report of someone dying of what is now believed to have been HIV/AIDS in 1959. Did anyone else read that anywhere?

(“Kenny would’ve done it.”)

Yeah, he appears to be dead for good. So how did he die the ‘last’ time? It also appears that butters is going to be the new sidekick (“are you having liposuction surgery at home again? You’re in trouble, young man?”)

<<So how did he die the ‘last’ time?>>

Some sort of Muscle wasting disease, it seemed. It was in the “very special” Stem Cell Research episode. Presumably, he died of either heart or respiratory failure. It’s possible that stem cell treatment could have saved him, but he died shortly after stem cell research had been re-legalized in the South Park world. Any armchair surgeons want to take a guess at what disease he had?

“Well, eat your puke.”

Still makes me laugh, so I must be channeling either a 5 year old’s or a male’s brain.

I loved the whole Jared thing. Pure silliness.
