Oh No, they remade The Amityville Horror

For god’s sake, wasn’t one horrible movie based on this “true story” bad enough? It’s not like anyone could top James Brolins horrible acting. And how can they say it’s based on a true story? It’s not like this story hasn’t been debunked about a thousand times. Even the people who made up this story have just about admitted it was all bs. Link.

Hey, it’s Hollywood! They’d rather screw up a remake than strain their meager brains coming up with something original.

It is based on a true story. The true story of a family who made up a story about a haunted house. They just left off the framing device.

Who knows, maybe the remake will be good. The special effects ought to be spectacular. it can’t be worse than the original or any of the sequels.

The scene with the eyes in the window spooked me a bit, which is more than I can say for most horror flicks. That alone make me give the flick a thumbs up.

My favorite cheese moment from the original was the woman yelling “It’s the gates of HELLLL!!!” about the basement. As long as that’s still in, it might be okay. Doesn’t mean I’m gonna go see it, no sir.

This is one of the few movies that I’ve been looking forward to seeing this year. On the other hand, I skipped the orginal movie since I’ve heard it’s not much like the book. The book was interesting if not out-right scary, so maybe the new movie will be as well.

They’re also remaking House of Wax, starring Paris Hilton.

For me, the scariest part in the original was, the invisible piggy monster, that only the little girl could see. We only saw his eyes! Plus, pigs are damn scary anyway.

Please, please, please, for the love of all that’s good and decent in the world, tell me you’re kidding. Even if you have to lie to me, tell me you’re kidding. Please.

Pah! Amateurs in the ‘who cares’ department. How about ABC doing a TV movie of ‘Little House on the Prarie’? Do we really need to see this again? And for the capper, NBC is doing an expose’ movie of ‘Mork and Mindy’. Stars doing drugs and booze…who’d a thunk, and who the hell cares?

Seventies actors drank and did drugs?

Unfortunately I’m not kidding. I saw a trailer for it before Constantine.

House of Wax.

Hey! That would be cool. I don’t mean just the framing devices, but a whole movie about the “Amityville Horror” and how they came up with it when they coudn’t make the mortgage (or whatever), them planing the whole thing, bringing in the “psychics”, coaching the actors. Now that could be a good movie. I see it as a black comedy.

I’d like to see ths movie, if only to understand how such a hoax could be perpetrated. From what i read, George Lutz and a lawyer made up the whole pack of lies. Oddly enough, they found plenty of “psychics” who were willing to swallow the whole mess, hook line and sinker.
Any idea how muc money was made off the hoax? I’m sure Lutz laughed all the way to the bank!
And that business about the RC priest…I understand he always denied that any of this stuff ever happened…yt nobody ever bothered to print his denials.
Finally, the thing cost the Town of Amityville quite a bit (polic overtime, details, etc.)-did Lutz ever pay the town any compensation?
