OH, so if he were a 400lb WHITE man on PCP it would be OK if 6 Black cops used force?

WCPO in cincy currently has the full raw footage available on their website.

Recently the Minneapolis police were accused of sodomizing a drug suspect with a plunger. The local NAACP came out immediatly against the police, and several local citizens groups and local activists came out immediatly too. They didn’t wait to see if the story had any validity. They held a news conference showing the man, in pain, hunched over, barely able to walk, and ultimately collapsing in front of the cameras.

But wait! There is more to the story? Footage taken earlier in the day by a local news crew show an agile and clearly healthy man running away from the news crews. The whole news conference deal was an act, a sham. Yet the local activists refused to back down from their original position. Why the heck didn’t they say, “you know, this guy may have hoodwinked us a bit, we’ll get back to you in a bit once we find out more information”. Instead, they stick to their guns, and loudly discredit themselves in front of all the news cameras.

Note to activists: Sometimes people are bad. By blindly assuming the worst in all situations, you may occaisionally appear to be in league with these bad people. This does not help your cause.

I saw a show on non-lethal weapons once and apparently the problem with glue technologies is getting the stuff off afterward.

Sure, glue him to the sidewalk, then what?

How come we never see videos of white men (or women for that matter) being subdued by police?
Surely there are lots.?!

That is the funniest thing I have read in a long while. It gave me a great visual.

To answer your question, yes, the point contact of a nightstick is much more painful and debilitating than being smacked with the length of the club. Think of someone hitting you with the point of a high heeled shoe instead of the flat part. Clubs have been known to break when swung instead of jabbed, which leaves the cop without a non-lethal weapon (other than pepper spray). The “PR” that most cops carry these days are not really designed for flailing. That handle sticks out at a right angle for a reason.

Some riot sticks actually have a steel ball on each end to facilitate damage upon contact.

Just watch COPS!

I can see some problems inherent with “glue submission” technologies. If the glue got in a person’s nose or mouth, they could be suffocated.

You ever seen a mouse caught in a glue trap? I have, the mouse was face first and dead.

I’m just curious, has Jesse Jackson made a statement about this?

I think we should be weary of making the whole process too nice, if that makes any sense.

This could be taken any number of ways: Why not kill 2 birds with one stone. Let the CPD circle jerk all over him. He’ll be sticky - and the police will be showing their love and admiration for all members of the community.

Taser technology is the way to go. Too bad most police don’t have the funds to buy these things.

Also too bad I didn’t buy 10,000 shares of their stock 6 months ago:

It was racism. Listen to what the guy says as he lunges at the cops (unprovoked). He calls them “white rednecks”, and something about what “my momma” taught me.

Also, the preliminary coroners report that I heard was that the bruises were on the arms and legs, and nowhere on the torso. I’ll be interested to see the final report.

Taser Inc.

Holy shit!

I’ll take that bet; no recovery for the family here.

How come these policemen didn’t have tasers?

He still might have died, I can’t believe that putting a few thousand volts through mr. universe would have been any better than a few hits from a stick. It wasn’t the beat down that killed him.

Alright, we’ll have to do a gentleman one.

See you in 6 years. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, that’s about the pace of these things eh?

NurseCarmen you missed another chapter in that Minneapolis story. The guy has been arrested again for drug offenses. The other thing is, apparently this guy has a known habit of hiding drugs in his rectum. Which is enough to make you wonder…

Actual quote (emphasis added) from WCPO’s report of the incident:

Yeah, I can see why trying to hoist this guy could prove fatal.
