I just heard on the radio that it’s 7 degrees in the Twin Cities. I spose I could be positive and say that at least there’s no minus sign, and it’s not snowing out. It sure is cold, tho!

just to add to Odieman’s post, the weatherman tonight said that we’re getting a cold front from Siberia that will pull us down to
-30 C by the weekend. We’ll be sure to pass it on to you guys in Wisconsin and Minnesota just as soon as we can.
Gee, thanks, jti, really appreciate it  You know I blame all Albertans for our weather, right?
WooHoo! Winter has hit Wisconsin!
Oh wait…you said “WOsconsin” - I must be thinking of a different state…
Yeah, well, I left my hooded scarf in my BF’s car!! I practically cried while waiting for the bus this morning and then walking from the bus to work. I probably will cry this evening when I have to head home!!
That Lake Michigan Wind Chill be damned!!
Milwaukee-ing It,
Melpy
What – you’ve never heard of Wosconsin? It’s a magical land that has a lot of great thongs to offer: there’s swomming, bocycling, and hoking in the summer, oce skating and skoing in the wonter…
And despite the cholly temperatures in the wonter, I can’t thonk of a better state to love on.
Finally got the Electric blanket out. Helps to have the girlfriend to snuggle up to. There is a good side to the cold nights.
Believe it or not, if you move away, you’re gonna MISS those cold winters. I grew up in the UP of MI, where it’s snowy & cold (hint: we used to go to Green Bay for vacations because the weather was so mild there), and the first couple years I lived in Colorado it was GREAT. 60 and 70 degree days in December, virtually no snow, you can ride your bike all year round.
Now, 10 years later, I completely miss the winters, and am scheming to move someplace where it gets cold. I hate the uniseasons.

Bottle, I was born and raised in Rhinelander!
So down here in La Crosse, I am constantly amazed by the complaints I hear when it snows an inch and the temp drops below 20. Wussies.
As for that footbridge in Eau Claire, my SO went to UW-EC and is still shivering ten years later. Wussie.
Aaaah… I could never leave Wisconsin. My feet are frozen to the ground…
Myron – No kiddin?
All my in-laws live there, so me and the wife and the little smoke bottles are usually up there a half-dozen times a year. Now that the kids are no longer so little, they love to get out in the snow. We just don’t get that kind of pileup down here.
So why didn’t you register under the name Myron Van Hodag?
Hodags…heh heh heh. That’s fodder for a whole 'nother thread…
Say, Bottle, do your inlaws know any Fleurys up there? My family is all there still, I’m the only one who moved away.
ROFL
Oh dearie me, this really had me cracking up!
Oh my…I think I need soem coffee…
coughcoughgigglecough*
Hey Myron – I don’t recognize the name, but my wife said it sounds familiar (though she admits to being terrible at remembering names). When did you leave the NortWoods? My wife graduated from RHS in '85.
And Melpy –
I graduated from RHS in '78, my sisters Amy in '83 and Kathy in '87.
I finally worked up the courage to move away in 1986. It’s a beautiful place to visit, but it’s sure hard to make a living there. Not much culture and education either. We might move back there after I retire and have an independent income.
Ah, memories.
During college I lived at 1114 E. Gorham (near Ingersoll) - the blue house set back from the street. I worked at the public library on Mifflin and remember a day that was -20 degrees, wind chill -70 degrees. Since the buses weren’t running, I had to walk to work.
Yeah, I don’t live there anymore.
** HEY ** I went to Eau Claire also, and now live in Madison too. Fondly (if dimly) recall those fine taverns you speak of.
Either that or my mulitple personalities are posting when I’m not looking.
