OK Apocalypse Preppers - Build the perfect "Go Pack"

You have one month to fill your duffle bag with everything you want from the modern world in preparation of the <insert your end of the world scenario> so what do you put in your duffle bag?

Rules:

  1. No single item over $100 to reflect a go bag for the common man
  2. Only one normal size gym/duffle bag
    What I have so far:

Crow Bar
Kabar
Baggie of dryer lint
Flint Stone
Multi-Tool
25’ of good rope
6 good quality bungie cords
Portable Water Filter
Hand crank/solar flashlight

I have more room, help!

Document package - Birth certificates, vaccinations, property ownership etc
Medication package - Pain killers, decongestants, bandaids, polysporin, antihistimines and any prescription medications

Think water purification.
Encountering food sources (knife, fire, fishing gear).
AM/FM radio
poly clothing
hat
sunglasses

Go Pack! Woo-hoo! Beat da Bears this Sunday, and we lock up the NFC North title!

What?

Well, if they lose, It’s not exactly the end of the world.

Don’t forget that roll of toilet paper.

a yard or so of netting
a reel of fishing line
a small tin of fish hooks of varying size and a few lures
bear spray (for critters and people)
maps and a compass
a good sized hunting knife
lock picking tools (for getting into abandoned buildings to hunker down in)

Why are you going anywhere?

If it’s the end of the world, you aren’t going to be able to outrun it. Might as well stay home, with all your stuff, not just a duffle-bag-ful.

Before packing, maybe you should consider – what kind of place would be better than where you are?

well, my insulin refills cost over $100 each, so, I’m kinda screwed.

A gun, so I can build a collection of other people’s go packs.

Lip extensions, so I can reach around and kiss my ass goodbye.

First aid kit, Radio

Leave the fucking multitool.

No, keep the tool. Unless it’s zombies. Then get a baseball bat, too.

Some carabiners might come in handy. I’d probably throw in some MRE’s or the equivalent. Maybe a signaling mirror/whistle.

Hie thee over to the Zombie Squad forums

Some matches. Why use a flint tool right away?

Compass? Map?

Collapsible cup.

Empty water bottle.

One of those light thermal blankets (basically, a garbage bag with aluminum paint on it, or whatever).

Dental floss.

Wash rag(s).

Bible.

Needles and thread.

Sorry, didn’t see the Map/Compass combo upthread by Brown Eyed Girl. My question marks were to indicate that I, personally, can see a use for it, tho you may not, not to question **BEG’s **judgement.

Well played sir… well played!

Water, food, shelter are your requirements, so let’s address those.

Water: a gravity-fed water filter and a hand pump model. A nalgene bottle.

Food:Snare wire, fishing equipment, freeze-dried backpacking meals, a knife, a book on foraging, and a can opener.

Shelter: A hammock and tarp, a 20° sleeping bag. Clothing that can be worn in layers.

A pack of coffee filters. They don’t take up much space and can be used to filter water. A small bottle of bleach would be usefull to, you only need a few drops to purify water.

A block of parafin wax, it is cheap, water-proof fire starter. Just shave a little onto your dryer lint or whatever tender you are using to start the fire.

Fire and water are the 2 things you most need. Oh, and throw in a mylar ‘space blanket’, small water-proof shelter.
