So something like Iron and Wine might be up your alley?
How about Deathcab for Cutie
How about Bright Eyes? Connor can’t sing but he has great melodies and solid lyrics.
The Shins
In the ballpark?
All too acoustic?

Thanks for posting. Nothing can be “too acoustic.”
I think Iron and Wine can be quite intriguing. I like the second one of these. Have listened in the past. but he has a “sound” that he sticks to a lot.
The Deathcab and Bright Eyes I just couldn’t get a strong melody out of for me. I just felt like they just went by. I have listened to them a bit. In terms of acoustic I love elliot Smith. he can play acoustic and you think your hearing the Beatles play punk somehow. I like a twisted vision.
I love the Shins. I know that guys second cousin. I haven’t paid enough attention to them. Good call.
I forgot about my best candidate for the thread: Kurt Vile. Anyone else heard him?
Also Amy Winehouse: One of the all time greats to me. She must qualify.
Since you appear to be digging the New Pornographers (and just because I feel like listening to it again), try ‘War on the East Coast’ off their most recent album. And good luck getting the chorus out of your head!
I saw Horse Thief a couple months ago supporting Elle King. I wanted to like them but I couldn’t hear any of the words!
The lead singer came out during Elle’s set and was super sexy and saucy dancing around the stage so I am re-intrigued lol
PS You should give Courtney Barnett a serious listen. Two of her songs were recommended here but she is worth a full immersion. I’m normally a lyrics girl myself, and don’t always get the lyrics right away just due to poor listening skills. But even without getting everything right off the bat I fell totally in love with her last fall. Like, listening every day love. There’s nothing really new about her music, it’s classic and clean. Her lyrics are pretty great when you really give them a listen. It’s music for everyone, I think. Give her a good chance.
Great that you like it! I think it’s not a widely known song, maybe the least (or second least) known song on my list.
