Well, OneCentStamp winked, but Lakai didn’t. And while the notion of a single subscription paying for a new server is clearly meant in jest, the question of how much, total, a new server would cost (and therefore how much would have to be raised from subscriptions to afford one) is a question which often does get asked in all seriousness around here.

Anaamika, look not to the SDSAB for advice, for they will tell you both yes and no.

The net effect of this is that, no matter how good a server we have, the performance will always be just above the threshhold of tolerability.

I respectfully disagree, as no other website I frequent has nearly the connectivity problems this one does, including those with markedly higher hits.

Well to add to that, the only site I frequent that is intolerable is this one. This includes some sites run by individuals and on shoe string budgets.

I’m not complaining (although admittedly I’ve been tempted to more than once) but the only site that I experience connectivity issues with is this one. And…it is common.

I worked with a very successful guy (a Forbes 400 member) who said that yelling/screaming should not be a standard way to motivate the troops. However, there were times that losing your cool, in a planned way, was sometimes appropriate necessary, and effective.

I don’t know if it’s a hardware or software issue, but maybe it’s time to get them in a room and do a little table pounding.
