OK John Boehner, What's It Going to Be?

I am sure John Boehner recognizes a simple fact, if, by the next Presidential election folks are working, the economy is back on track, folks are not losing their homes, etc. then Obama will be re-elected, it really is as simple as that.

Yet, it has been made very clear that they would rather have hearings and work toward making Obama a one-term President.

So am I to gather from this set of facts that the Republicans will do nothing to try and help the economy, nothing to try and create jobs, nothing to m ake the lives of Aemricans better?

Because that’s what it seems like to me. What other conlcusion is there?

If the economy is still in the tank, then the voters will be even more angry than this election and the incumbents will be voted out, including the President and non-institutional Congressmen.

That’s the way the ball bounces.

Why should the next 2 years be any different than the last 2 years?

Blubbering Boner, the Weeper of the House, will try and defund every aspect of healthcare. He has good coverage and knows that you do not deserve it. If they refuse to appropriate the money, it will stop the masses from getting use . That is a fine Republican/Right wing legacy.

So it is in the Republican Party’s best interest to make sure the economy stays in the tank, right?

That’s the way put it to America without the benefit of lube.

Precisely. The Republicans can clearly see that the more they can damage the economy, the better off they’ll be in 2012. They have an interest in winning elections, not governing the country. And before anyone can say “But the American electorate will surely see through that ploy and punish any Republicans who use this craven ploy!”

Sure. And would you like a pony that poops Skittlestm too? I somehow doubt the Fox network would run with this line of thinking. Things will simply be spun as “The Democrats are not helping the economy, blame the Democrats”. Just repeat that line a few hundred times and the masses will lap it up no matter what reality is. Experience has shown that you can get people to believe pretty much any crap you want (How many people thought Sadaam responsible for 911? It was never directly said, just implied by those who always mentioned Sadaam and 911 in the same breath, ad nauseum)

And the Teabagger “2nd Amendment Solution” starts looking better and better. Just not the people they would have selected. :stuck_out_tongue:

His… name… is… BONER! snicker**snorthahahaaahhhchuckle

I’m wondering if they’re laying the groundwork for this already. There have been claims in GD (I think) that the economy should be left alone to just fix itself. Therefore, if the economy isn’t all roses and ponies by 2012, it must have been because of something the Democrats did to it.

They don’t see it as “wrecking the economy”, theirs is the faith that surpasseth all understanding, they believe that loading up the rich with more money is a good idea for all Americans, that squandering money on poor people is all touchy-feely, isn’t based on the hard nosed facts of economics.

Pretty soon they will start sidling up to a word that is all the rage in Europe: “austerity”. The hard truth is that many Americans will have to suffer some minor belt-tightening. Kind of like how the doctor says “Your going to feel some discomfort, feel free to scream.”

Its also true that certain groups of the blessed, the deserving, the elect and the elected, will not feel these pangs as much, if at all. That is another hard-nosed fact of Life, and its a darn shame, but correct economic theory proves that any effort to ease that suffering is doomed to fail, and besides, its socialism.

When I was fighting clinical depression with suicidal ideation, I was prone to weep at every opportunity. Maybe John Boehner shares my diagnosis. Let’s not offer him any help.

If only post-1970s American lefties weren’t so gunshy! :frowning:

Well, the Democrats had 2 years where they had a majority in both branches. So if they created the groundwork for a recovery, then they stand to enjoy the fruits of their labor during the next election.

They did not have a majority in the Senate. With procedural filibusters, it requires 61 to pass anything. The idea that 51 votes is reqiuired in the Senate has been killed.

It used to be the only way to get a big orange boner was to watch porn while eating cheetos.

The crying conservative, Boner, came out today and said he changed his mind about earmarks. He thought there should be a hold for at least a year. Now, he suddenly has changed his mind. The tears are blurring his right wing conservatism. he is a lying jerk, and more than half the people on this board bought it.

Wow, you used suicidal ideation to fight depression!? Oh, wait, “with” didn’t modify “fighting,” but “depression.” Oh well. :frowning: Did you try delusions of grandeur?

I think we Deutschers have crocodiles, actually. We are a bit sensitive to peppers, of course.

Yes. But don’t forget that the moronic lambs who vote against Demos because they kill babies or lack birth certificates are irrelevant (except for the actuality of their votes!)

Today’s GOP is driven by media like Fox and greedy billionaires; both these groups are happy to see a wrecked economy and angry citizens. (That billionaires are now able to fund campaigns secretly is a big tragedy; thank Bush’s Supreme Court for that.)

It may seem paradoxical that billionaires want a wrecked economy, but once you have enough dough to play with ten call girls at once, the marginal pleasure from an eleventh whore is quite small. It’s all about personal power, and you get much more power with $9 billion in a wrecked economy than you’d have with $11 billion in a prospering economy.

Money is power. Since the Supreme Court works for them now, money is total power now. They can buy elections and politicians on a new scale.

“New”? No, not new. They’re just gving us the business as usual.
