So you were a 46Q/PAO? What year and where? I was in Tague as a PAO from 94 to 96.
If Soul has a Walmart and the North has some good telephoto lenses they should be able to get enough propaganda for the next milenium or two…
Wal-Mart left South Korea in 2006. All of their properties were purchased by Shinsegae and added to their E-Mart chain.
I didn’t see the obvious answer to this, but not only was a U-2 plane shot down over the Soviet Union, but a U-2 was shot down by missiles over Cuba during the missile crisis 50 years ago. Obviously there are precedents and in reality little was done.
Seoul. But then they’d have to explain why all of the Americans were so fat.
Nope, I was a 3N0. In Army terms I guess that’s a 46R?
Broadcaster stationed at AFKN. I was at Yongsan from 87 to 88, 91 to 93 and 95 to 96.
Its all that unhealthy southern “soul” food
you guys are so predictable some times
Well, when their latest thing is to claim there are no birds in the USA because we’ve eaten them all and we’re starving (hey, just like them!), explaining why all the Americans are so fat would be a bit difficult.
Of course, the next phase would be inciting Anti-American Cannibalistic Sentiments.
Eat the Americans!
I bet we are delicious.
And loaded with transfats, sodium, and nicotine.
Yeah it’s a 46R. I’m assuming, maybe incorrectly, you were Navy. Don’t you all do both tracks at DINFOS though?
I was the editor down in Tague back then.
Indeed. I think it’s by no means a given that the U.S. would/should respond with nuclear weapons.
And asbestos.
Of course.
But Canadians are maple flavored.
I’d love to see the propaganda that People of Walmart would spur.
Clearly, Susan was speaking, not with a South Korean, but rather with a Japanese illegal immigrant who was being taken advantage of by an unethical employer.
And now the little dork is supervising artillery drills near the border. Nothing could possibly go wrong. :smack:
And that’s where North Korea’s current strategy is likely to backfire. They’re threatening both aggressive action against South Korea and first-strike use of nuclear weapons against the US - either of which would undermine the stability of the region which China holds so dear. What possible interest would China have in a Korean War v 2.0? None whatsoever.
Add to that that the nuclear saber rattling, while currently directed at the US, also poses a direct risk to China. Now right now I doubt North Korea could lob a nuclear warhead any further than I could spit. But IF they should develop the capacity to hit US soil with nuclear weapons - well, any missile that can hit US territory can also hit Beijing. Right now North Korea sounds like a mugger: “Hand over your food and fuel oil shipments, or I’ll nuke you!” It won’t be lost on the Chinese leadership that such threats could be turned against them just as easily in the future.
North Korea was useful to China as long as it remained an obedient little lapdog. Now that the lapdog has slipped its leash and seemingly turned rabid to boot, China has more and more reasons to want to see Kim’s regime squashed. If this keeps up, I don’t think things are going to end well for North Korea.
I don’t think North Korea has ever been “an obedient little lapdog” to anyone. The amount of crazy in their ruling elite would, ISTM, preclude that.
