OK, this lazy AI image generation is getting ridiculous

Why is there an ear growing from this gutter?
Imgur

Gives new meaning to “eavesdropping.”

What’s really bugging me is the downspout coming out of the soffit instead of the eavestrough.

LOL, I didn’t even notice that!
Which is the point, I suppose.

Plus, the Porn is really, really off-putting.

That’s not a downspout, that’s the squirrel access tunnel for your attic

The fascinating thing with a lot of the AI we see out there is that obviously people are not stopping have someone look at the generated image who knows what looks right before putting it up. (Or else they ran out of their free-sample runtime and just went ahead with what they had)

Because, I mean, whoever coded the AI reasonably expected someone would look at it and if unsatisfactory reprompt and iterate as needed.

(And really… AI graphics seem to be having a beast of a time with nailing down how many fingers and thumbs people have and which way they bend and how right and left hand are different.)

Calling whatever this LLM stuff is ‘Artificial Intelligence’ is really misleading, because it clearly has zero actual intelligence. Perhaps a label like ‘Algorithmic Generation’ or something would be less misleading.

LLM stands for “large language model”, which is something that an image generator isn’t.

If someone actually looked at it, it would not be computer-generated spam, would it?

Here’s the thing though…it’s free.

That trumps almost all other considerations. You can certainly pay for stock photos but few want to. This is a huge concern among those who make a living producing stock photos. Their livelihood is probably over now.

Lots of A, but no I.

I find this fascinating. Computer generated span, untouched by human hands, attached to webpages by bots, being ignored by most, adblocked by the rest.

In my dystopian future story I would film, survivors keep getting spam email.
