Okay, now think of a city in San Francisco other than San Francisco

I believe it is, Scotty!

I asked for a city in San Francisco other than San Francisco. So that doesn’t count.

Like jimbuff314, I think there are a few who do. This seems to be one, for example:

Not this one:

Serious question: Is that tiny corner of Alameda Island that is in San Francisco County part of the city of Alameda, or part of the city of San Francisco? I’ve never heard any mention whatsoever of S. F. County having any different boundary than S. F. City. (ETA: Sorry, I can’t look at your Google Maps link, that site having never worked on my machine since they did that major “upgrade” up-fuck a few weeks ago.)

Marin County?

Wait, you said city. San Jose.

That land is part of the city of San Francisco–it’s part of the geographical formation Alameda Island, but not part of the city of Alameda.

Or “A country in South Africa which is Not South Africa ?”.
OR Losotho ?

Berkeley.

I am suddenly reminded that I used to have a penpal who lived somewhere in San Francisco. But this was before the Internet so I can’t remember anything about her. I should look for her.

The Farallon Islands are part of SF, although not inhabited.

Lesotho is not in South Africa. South Africa surrounds it, but does not include it.

Anyhow, there’s no San Francisco equivalent.

I reject Yerba Buena on the grounds that it’s not a city in San Francisco. It was a city that used to be where part of San Francisco is now.

Anyway, I’m gonna go with the city of Cisco, TX, because the character string ‘cisco’ is contained in the character string ‘San Francisco’ and it’s a city (or so it claims), so in a really dumb sense it’s a city which is not San Francisco that is in San Francisco.

There are none. SF is the City and County of San Francisco, the the only consolidated city-county in CA.

While you’re correct about that, there’s clearly a trick answer of some sort. My best guess is the character-string subset, but it could be something else.

*Or *there’s not.

Well, I suppose the OP could eventually go, “Ha, ha, fooled you all, there’s no city other than San Francisco in San Francisco,” but I’ll believe it when I see it.

I’ll believe it when he tells us what his oh so very clever wrong answer is. Today.

The obvious* answer, to me, is Frisco (Texas).

  • Obviously, the ‘obvious’ answer, as several people have pointed out, is that there is no correct answer to the OP…but assuming this is some sort of ‘trick question’, this is what stuck out.
  1. San Francisco Airport is not in the city of San Francisco, nor is it in the county, but in unincorporated San Mateo county. It is near South San Francisco, which is not a part of San Francisco but a separate city with several more separating them.

  2. SF shared at least some territory with the Empire of the United States and the Protectorate of Mexico.

Huh, I didn’t know that, and FWIW never heard a single person mention it in 20 years. Weird though.
Alameda consists of the main part, which is an island, and Bay Farm Island, which is not an island :dubious:

Daly City (which is not in San Francisco).

I started hearing about it as soon as I moved to Alameda… and the story of how Alameda was once attached to Oakland, but dredged a canal to make itself an island just to get away from Oakland…

I hang out with Alamedans who are a little too much into history I think!

I heard about that part. And that some specific parts of the east side are landfill (as in many cities around the bay), which I think in my child mind translated to living on a floating garbage island.

Hey, I’m looking to move to Alameda. But, apparently been priced out there as well!
