Okay, which one of you bastards did this to me? (Your current earworm)

It’s funny how people post links to the songs that are tormenting them as if we’re stupid enough to click on them.

YOU CAN’T GET RID OF AN EARWORM BY PASSING IT ALONG!!!

Here’s a question: once you’ve had a particular song as an earworm, are you immunized from ever getting it again? I don’t want to try to find out- the theme song to Little Lulu almost drove me to suicide.

No, you’re more likely to get it. Before long you’ve acquired a collection of the bastards. Which can come in handy when you’re particularly plagued by your most recent one - you can replace it temporarily with a few from your collection. This can go on forever.

I was reading a book this week and I came across the unfortunate line - I never said I loved you.

The Payolas were stuck in my head for days until I read an article that said one way to kill earworms is to do anagrams. Apparently it uses the same portion of your brain. It worked until I started writing this post. Now I need a new anagram.

Frank Turner covering Anna Begins by the Counting Crows.

I love it but I need it to leave me for a while so I can love it again. Such a nice cover, stop playing endlessly in my head!

“When kindness falls like rain
It washes me away
And Anna begins to change her mind…”

Tchaikovsky, Reverie Interrompu. I have very cultured earworms, evidently.

This. The other night I somehow got “What Does the Fox Say?” stuck in my head while at work, and it wouldn’t go away. So as soon as I got home, I loaded up Nightwish’s “Ghost Love Score”, a live performance with Floor Jansen on vocals. Fixed me right up:

Oh FFS. I thought I’d kill it with something loud.

And now I have Black Flag’s Rise Above as an earworm. Blerg.

The Flower Song by Tom Keifer. It’s been three days now, but at least it replaced Royals.

Bum bum bumblebee tuna …

Way back in the late 60s my brother and I would ride sprawled out on the foredeck of a boat we had up in Canada, and at one point I noticed that the slam of the boat on the waves timed perfectly to the bumblebee tuna jingle. I still get sort of a frisson when I hear the jingle flashing me back to some really enjoyable hours spent when young. I really miss the Little Gyp. :frowning: She had red leather floatation cushions [kapok filled?]
