Other than the two dissenters, you’ve all pretty much told me what I expected to hear. (Well, except as mentioned above I hadn’t thought about textile recyclers.) I’ll safety-pin a little note to it and drop it off.
(Note to poor folks in the DFW area: if next winter you wind up with a powder-blue jacket - it might’ve been mine! )
I have to say that I’ve bought some clothes and sheets and such with stains and holes, not to use as is, but to make other things out of them. A lot of crafters do this, especially quilters. Here’s a quilt made from men’s shirts, plus how she made the quilt.
However, if I needed a coat and had very little money to spend, heck yes I’d buy a coat with a broken zipper. Even if I didn’t repair it, it’s a lot better than no coat at all. I used to buy clothes from an outlet that sold seconds, and I did a lot of minor repairs on stuff that I got for a song.
That’s silly. It’s your responsibility to check for problems that you can’t live. (I say this as somebody who has bought most of her wardrobe from thrift stores).
Donate it.
