OK, I know this one sounds strange, but here is what I seem to remember.
I have a memory of watching Gunsmoke a long, long time ago, when it was still in B & W, and seeing what seemed to be a “terminal” episode, where the final scene – all I remember of the episode – had Matt teaching a boy, his son, to track animals. The scene expanded to show Miss Kitty, his lovely bride watching.
I was a little surprised when the show resumed the next season, as it sure looked like a wrap-up episode.
But I was VERY young then, and it was a long time ago. I acknowledge that this could be a fake memory, but I remember that scene so well, that I really think I saw it.
So, do any of you know something about this, or am I just having some weird hallucinations due to drugs ingested in the 1960s?
I don’t remember that ep, but in one memorable episode, Matt, while an amnesiac after being wounded, was taken in and nursed back to health by Michael Lerned. They fell in love until he got his memory back. In the 90s reunion movies, it was revealed that the two produced a daughter during this time (unknown to Matt). But this was color, around '73 or so, so it’s not what you’re remembering, I’m sure.
I do appreciate the effort, Sir Rhosis, but I am beginning to suspect that, like Mr. Blue Sky said, I may be tilting at windmills due to some “bad hooch!”
