(Old) Hunt for Bed October in the MMP

Oh, ho ho!! Clever girl! I’m sorry but you’re disqualified, as one of the rules is that you can’t know there is a better-than-expected treat at the end of your spooky ordeal. Heck, I can hardly get my postie to come down the driveway in broad daylight with the gate wide open.

Lily, have a terrific walk! I’m in awe.

It’s extraordinary progress from where she started.

I hope the new ink went well and you had a luxuriously lazy afternoon! With day drinking, of course.

Wise move indeed, FCM. I think Ollie just periodically forgets that he’s supposed to be housebroken. Bit of a dim bulb, this one.

Glad Otis has a secure place to run and that he gets along nicely with Trevor, too.

I get that, metal mouse. Things must be just so!

Hope the coaching session went well.

I did, BBBoo. And good onya for doing your bit.

My Ducks had the week off, so no fun game to watch today. Next week they’re playing at home. Those are good days to stay tucked in. It gets crazy around here.

Taters, hope you won against the cold. You’re right – you never stood a chance against a pile of kids!

Pilot, sorry about your friend’s wife’s death. It is good you’re there to help him get through this awful time. And glad you and GF are getting things sorted so well. I hope her marriage dissolution doesn’t drag on much longer. The son situation is a little weird. Does a 30-ish person really get bent out of shape because one of his parents chooses to engage in a new relationship? I’m sure you’ll win him over in the end.

And… that spiny-backed orb weaver spider! Yikes! I don’t mind spiders, but those things look like mutants! We don’t have them here. (I hope.)

oopsie, will you come by and organize my life? I hope WifeBFF’s kidney problems resolve as her docs believe they will, and I’m sure both she and HusbandBFF are so grateful for your help.

Sounds pretty good to me, cookie.

Van Go, so cool about Peach and her date at the dog park! I wish I had one close to me for Ollie. He has to make do with me chasing him around the pasture. I do take him regularly over for play dates with my bestest friend’s Tibetan Spaniel. She tolerates the impertinent youngster but is too dignified to play properly. Sort of sad.

LOL, that’s a great story. So intentional! “Happy birthday, luv, Pookie!”

Another great story – I wouldn’t have been able to stop from laughing out loud!

A deliberately quiet day here. Did some housekeeping tasks. A friend of mine and her husband have been plagued with health issues and surgeries over the past few months. My friend has another one scheduled on October 16th and will then have to keep weight off one leg for 6 weeks.

I did up some chicken and rice soup and 6 gluten-free burritos to help them with meals while she’s laid up. Only… there was enough burrito filling to make one for myself for dinner. I’m eating this burrito and thinking, “There’s something not right about this mixture.” And it hit me: I must’ve grabbed curry when I was aiming for cumin.

They don’t like a lot of spice so I didn’t use very much.

I don’t think I’ll tell them. :grimacing:

Very cool. We’re entering the spider season and find both Giant House Spider (native, eratigena atrica) or Nosferatu Spider (alien, Zoropsis spinimana) in our home, but both are shades of brown. Not so colorful.

@dogbutler Deviled egg ornaments shouldn’t cost that much. I’d rather get a t-shirt.

That she is. I like the birch trees too.

I think the burritos we had delivered two weeks ago had curry in them. No idea why. Was odd, but still tasty.

No big plans today. Go for walk, do a load of laundry, and make banana bread. And make sure I know where my badge and computer glasses are, as tomorrow I’m going into the office for the first time in almost 3 weeks. Hubby’s agreed to carry my laptop, to make sure I don’t carry too much weight. It’s convenient that we work in the same building.

After last night’s storm, we have beautiful blue sky, but colder temperatures. Have to bundle up a bit.

Happy Sunday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 68 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 82 with possible rain mid-afternoon. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization in which I have chalice duty, followed by first Sunday brunch. I have a corn casserole to make before we leave. No biggie cause its mix up and bake in the same dish and can cook whilst I purtify. We also have a load of stuff to take over for the yahd sale next Sattidy. We’ll be back in da cave before the alleged rain starts. RDOS inactivities will take up the rest of the day.

Now I need more caffeine and to feel rumbly tummy. Then mixage, bakeage, and purtification for deheathenization shall commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Morning cleaning and afternoon football and F1. Spot is currently complaining that there’s no picture on his shows.

That would work, too.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 12c/54f with a predicted high of 14c/57f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Cloudy and fucking mild. Someone needs to start a fucking dance party or some shit.” Maybe not, I wouldn’t mind a nice quiet day.

This is what I’ve heard from other people, they’re best fresh and hot. We do have a place selling them in our local shopping centre, but I think they’re made elsewhere and delivered to the concession stand.

Someone has to push the apartment folks into doing their jobs properly, you’re not paying to live in a place that can’t get heating right, especially when you’ve got elderly folks who need to be warm. They’re lucky to have someone like you who’s willing to keep pushing for them.

Sounds like an excellent cause to be rabble-rousing for. I hope it all goes to plan and of course, everyone will love you!

Good to know that she’s in safe hands and will be getting the kind of care she needs to get her back on her feet properly. My mum was in a lovely rehab hospital years ago after breaking her wrist and hip (both left side) so she spent a few weeks there while they ensured she was able to do the basics for herself before she was allowed home.

It’s a custom design done by one of the artists at Vivid Ink - she drew it for me, and said that as I’ve chosen the colours for it, she will not tattoo it on anyone else  Hopefully the link works and you can see it!

I am so glad he had someone to talk to who had shared his experiences and could offer practical advice. I’m sure he appreciated it, but I hope it did not bring back to many bad memories for you.

So good to hear that Ms Peach is settling in and enjoying some outdoor fun with other dogs!

Never seen one of those before, what an interesting little spood!

We call this one a False Wolf spider, they’re getting more common here too, and of course we have always had GHS in abundance.

Yesterday was a fun day, I spent about 3.5hrs with Magenta getting my tattoo done, then ‘im indoors came to meet me and we walked into town to get some lunch. Tried a new-to-us place, Meat-Free Planet, which he wanted to try because they had various types of pakora. He’s very fond of veg pakora but it’s hard to get it here, even the Indian restaurants don’t do it very often, mostly they do chicken or fish pakora. I had a mixed veg curry which was nice, but very oily, and a plain naan bread which was really a toasted flatbread with ghee and coriander on it. Nice food, but not sure I’d go back again.

After that, we went to do our errands as I needed some specific unscented lotion for the new tattoo, and he wanted to go to our local branch of Forbidden Planet as his friend works there and this was his last Saturday in the store before he leaves for pastures new. He’s staying in the comic/collectibles business but going to work somewhere that does online-only sales.

I wandered around a couple of other places while they had a chat about stuff I’m not interested in, then we met up half an hour later and went to the Posada for a drink. Did the usual route home via the Posada, Lych Gate and the Clarendon (where I found their new juke box has six songs by my favourite band!), then we channeled shoe and picked up a large pizza and a kebab to take home. I had some pizza, he had the kebab and we have plenty of leftover pizza for lunch today.

I have no plans for today, the rollsuckage should be done but I dontwanna, it will still be there tomorrow. Slothage sounds much more appealing today, and I have a sofa and a book.

Afternoon.

I wrote a post yesterday then went out without remembering to hit ‘send’…
We did have a small tree down round the corner, but no damage to the Nuthouse from the wind. I’m in a bit of a sheltered spot. Didn’t even have the bins blown over.

Today is a lazy day, after going out to a friend’s birthday last night. Wasn’t a late one, I was back just after 10, but I’m still very sleepy today.

The main task for the day is trying to finally start planning how to get my friend’s crap back to him. This is a friend from my previous uni, he’s from Uruguay but has an EU passport as well. Due to a series of unexpected events, he wasn’t able to stay in the UK or bring his wife over as had been planned and, everyone thought, arranged. It was a full rollercoaster of chaos- as is much of his life, it’s like knowing a sitcom. Anyway, after buying a whole load of stuff to kit out the house for the two of them, he suddenly had something like 3 weeks to leave the UK and didn’t really accept it was actually going to happen until the final few days. He had a load of stuff he didn’t want to get rid of that he obviously couldn’t just take, so I said I’d take it back to my place and store it while he got sorted in Spain.

This was over a year ago.

Him and his wife wound up in a tiny bedroom in Spain while trying to wrangle decent jobs, so this huge pile of miscellaneous crap has just been sitting around taking up most of my spare room since. They now finally have somewhere to stay longer term- in Germany.
I heavily suspect some of it is not worth shipping, and a lot of it will need repacking as I’ve already taken some to Spain when we met up last Christmas, so we’re going to go through and get measurements and contents lists for the shipping company.

I also need to spend some time playing with the rats and tidy up a bit.

Mornin’ all - just past 7am as I start to drivel. Been up an hour and caffinatin’ nicely. had major thunderboomers at bedtime, with the result that although it’s warm outside now (82/26), it’s all wet. So no balconatin’. Also a bit breezy.

For a woman of wild disposition, you sure seem guilt-driven about a lot of crap. Since the advent of e-books I’ve happily used library cards from places I’ve moved away from for years. I recently moved just across a county border and my old card in the old county is still good for a few more years. If they had a dead tree book I wanted, I’d go get it. Libraries are dying from lack of use, not overuse.

I identified the dog on the floor as Otis. Is there another in the pic?

That’s probably 6 months in the future, maybe more, but I agree that’ll help.

I think the crux of the issue is that she and hubs have been estranged for 15 years. She was relegated to hired help / governess status long ago. Which she successfully hid from son until suddenly she & hubs separated 10 months ago. Which looked like her moving out but was actually hubs engineering it. Son was flabbergasted when she announced she was filing divorce. That was ~6 months ago. So for son it’s all a big and sudden surprise. He’s also apparently an emotional sentimental sensitive sort.

Another source of son’s weirdness is as I’ve told y’all over the last couple of months. Between moving GF’s Mom to the Independent Living, the Europe trip, and a couple of local trips, plus dealing with moving hubs and her crap to separate houses, and downsizing along the way, and all the admin crap of divorce spool up, she’s been torn 8 ways to Sunday since early June, 4 months ago. Leaving her little time for son (or me) during that interval.

So son’s feeling neglected, and largely for Mom doing selfish fun things like traveling. Then he finds out Mom is traveling with some new & strange man instead of coming over to Son’s place for Sunday dinner as was their weekly tradition? Cue “I’m being neglected!” emotional overload.

And son needs to be given an accurate rundown on the real history of Mom/Dad’s relationship, not the sanitized version he now believes. Modulo whatever story he’s getting from his Dad.

As I said to her: you’ll always be his Mom. But it’s time to ensure he doesn’t think you’re still his Mommie.

My own parents openly fought for well over a decade before divorcing when I was in my late 20s. No surprise there; just relief. I recall being weirded out the first time I met their respective GF / BFs when I was about 30. You have a Mom- or Dad-shaped template you expect to be standing there next to Dad or Mom. And here’s this other person standing there instead. The template comparison is not flattering to the newbie no matter how much you know the Mom/Dad couple was a disaster.

He’ll be fine; it’ll just take awhile.

Excellent point, and not one I’d consciously noticed.

For me, TJ’s is cheese & chocolate & nuts, plus occasional specialty beer. Aldi was some fruit or veg, some lamb, but mostly cheese and chocolate. And cheap eggs. Aldi has been off my radar for about 6 years now.

I’m sure your lovingly made accidental curry burritos will be a hit. Good on ya for caring enough to do all that.

There’s a storefront Indian eatery / takeout near me that serves conventional Indian food. Their innovation is serving it in a folded naan and calling it “taco masala”. Kinda strange at first to bite into a taco- (or more like gyro-) shaped thing and have Indian flavors invade your mouth. But fun. Messy though; best eaten wearing short sleeves & leaning forward over your plate.

Well said. Hooray for Mom making progress in good surroundings.

We sure can. Very snazzy & very clearly custom.

As to me:
GF was much less frazzled by bedtime. Yaay!

Today is RDOS in the morning, with shevel & feed imminent.

You may recall my tale from a couple months ago of going to the home of a lifetime pal of GFs for a girl’s group dinner of her old high school clique. At which one other guy (husband) was present. We’re doing the same thing at the same house with the same ADD / can’t shut up / very sweet host(ess) this afternoon / evening. Then we two will reconvene at my place for the overnight.

Now that I know everybody I’ll drive myself a lot more into the center of the group, not patiently watching from the sidelines. But it’ll be an interesting experiment / experience no matter how it works out. Wish me luck!

Cheers & happy Sunday to all!

Horrible night last night - apart from having a tough time falling asleep, at one point, I was awakened by the poison ivy on my fingers itching like crazy.. I had to get up and fetch the hydrocortisone from the dining room (isn’t that where everyone keeps it?? OK, I left it there last time I used it…) Once it took effect, I dozed, but woke an hour later smelling what I thought was coffee. Whatever it was, it came in thru the window. Dunno. And after all that, I was woke around 6 - maybe 4-5 hours of sleep. Maybe.

Nope - Trevor had gone home so Otis had peace.

I let Otis out to pee when I got up, but his food and water was for FCD to deal with. I did look up his chip number last night, and I’m going to assume that the rescue folks tried to contact his previous owner. What I did learn that he’s going to be 1 on Oct 22, and his name was Otis from the start. And that for some stoopit reason, he was identified as a shepherd in that database. Too bizarre. Anyway, I need to call and have his chip registered to us - that’s on Moanday’s to-do list.

I also got him and Trevor signed up for training at PetSmart starting on Oct 18. They both need it. At Daughter’s suggestion, we’ll all trade off working with each dog so they learn to respond to multiple folks, not just one. Anyway, first part of training is 6 weeks, then there’s 6 weeks of Intermediate that comes probably after the holidays.

FCD is going to the boat today to install fuel lines. I’m not sure what I’ll do. We’ve got 3 days of upper 70s followed by a dramatic drop in temps. Windows are still open - our electric bill should be a good bit lower - YAY! Not sure what today holds - maybe I’ll get brave and take Otis out for a walk so he gets to know his neighborhood. We need to get him a tag with our phone number, just in case he wanders off.

For now, tho, it’s my morning computer/chillage time.

Happy Sunday!!

Very pretty! The same design would make a pretty suncatcher.

Or pay $50.00 and get a membership from Queens Public Library. Their own website (link) is down for maintenance, but this site (link) explains the conditions. It’s one of the few libraries that offers memberships to international users.

Went for a walk, had lunch and made banana bread, with hubby doing the mashing and mixing. He’s taking care of the laundry and I’m chilling on the couch. Dishwasher’s doing it’s thing and the weather’s doing it’s thing - wind, sun, rain, clouds, but no snow. At least not at our altitude.

Good morning.

It’s 52°F, dark, and mostly cloudy outside. By afternoon, it’ll be mostly sunny, with a high temperature of 66°F.

Pilot, I’m so sorry about your friend’s wife.

The cold and I are still battling. I’m not feeling worse, but I’m not feeling better either. I had another restless night on top of that, too.

Dicey, I’m glad you continue to improve. Hopefully, you’ll be back to 100% very soon.

The husband needs to go to the grocery store today, and tomorrow, we’ll probably head over to the German deli and stop at the German restaurant on the way. I suppose this will become a monthly or bi-weekly occurrence now. I don’t mind the deli trip, but I don’t want to eat at Bruno’s every couple of weeks. I think I’ll suggest trying somewhere new.

I also need to start the hunt for a new body lotion/cream. I like a fresh, light scent. I’ve been using Zen Garden for years, but it’s no longer in production, and while I can find some on Amazon, they’re way overpriced and probably outdated. I don’t like things overly floral or fruity either. I tend to lean towards citrus or “green” smelling scents. I don’t know how to describe Zen Garden any better. Anyway, it’s an annoyance (albeit a first-world problem), and I’m down to my last little bit left in the tube. Alas, this means actually going out and smelling lots of lotion.

I suppose I should get those last couple of cups in the dishwasher and run it. Please take care of yourselves.

And a good Sunday morning to all y’all. Contrary to my previous message, I stayed up past 11pm and when my bladder got me up at 5:30am like Sattiday, I instead went back to be until nearly 8am. So fast has been broken, NT Times acquired, and dishwasher is doing it’s thing, so the morning is underway. And it’s beautiful out there, sunny skies and 73F (heading to 83F). May make this a day of rest (or a day of housecleaning, it really needs it), but we’ll see.

Looking like there was much speechifying while I was away, so now to read the musings of my fellow Mumpers…

Bright Tree, that is a good thing you are doing for your friend in need. And we can’t call you Oopsie on the cumin/curry since that name is taken (but we all do it at times).

Dicey, hope the office visit isn’t like a Stranger in a Strange Land…

boo fae, that is a magnificent-looking tattoo. And you folks have the most interesting shops near you…or I just never notice them as I should.

Nut, obviously a problem, can said friend make a quick trip over to you and show you what he wants/doesn’t want? Sometimes being a helpful friend can be a bit of a chore…

Pilot, concur that GF needs a good sit-down, clear-the-air meeting with Son when she has the time to prepare for it. You being the calm, bedrock that you are is no little help in that matter. And luck wished for the clique meeting, part 2.

FCM, don’t know how you keep going on 5-6 hours sleep. If I don’t get at least 7 I’m loggy all day.

Taters, good luck on your search for some green-smelling stuff.

And gee, that’s the bottom of the list, so on to the morning internettin’ and a dresing up for Dinner at Logan’s Roadhouse in a bit. Have a good Sunday all.

Ooh! Pretty!

Rehab will help your mom adjust to any new limitations and help her get some strength back, Mooooooom. I was in a rehab facility after surgery some years back. Occupational therapy was a biggie.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I think I’ll make some pumpkin muffins today. I may make the Staples run once sheveled to recycle a printer and exchange a CO2 cartridge. Other than that, RDOS.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

You are right. I was only thinking that I shouldn’t because I’m not paying property taxes in Yavapai county anymore. I forgot how important circulation numbers are, hence my slight feelings of guilt. Not to mention that I’ve lived here for over a year and haven’t managed to drive ten miles to get a new library card? That’s not great either.

Tomorrow I will get my local card, but I will use both of them at whim because circulation numbers are so important.

Thank you!

Have you guys considered you selling it and giving him the money? I’m sure it is nice stuff, but shipping is expensive and it was bought for a different house.

Such a PITA no matter what, I hope your ratties start snuggling soon.

That is really nice, I hope it comes out well and you don’t bump it on anything during the healing process.

That’s what happens when you alphabetize your spice rack. If it took you that long to figure it out, non-spice lovers won’t at all. It is very nice of you to cook for them, I hope she recovers quickly and isn’t too horrible bored.

My plans for today are to get my Hydrangea in the ground. Hubs used metal garden edging to make a couple of anti-mowing rings and he showed me where they would easiest to mow around so when it warms up a little more I’ll get out there with a shovel.

I’ve also got some seed garlic on the way. Sally said she would try to stop over with it this afternoon, so tomorrow I’ll get that planted before going to the library. I tried growing it in AZ, but garlic needs to freeze or the cloves won’t form. I used to get single clove bulbs which were usable, but not as flavorful as I would have liked.

Aldi’s is for cheese, bread and chicken. We get our produce at the store I might be running again for a week over Christmas and beef/pork comes from the butchers in the holler. The Krogers in Logan is very lame, small and not well stocked. We buy toilet paper, beer and Hubs’ flavored waters there.

I’m going to have another cup of tea and then head out with my shovel. I’ll be right outside the bedroom window so I will have proper supervision

For some unknown reason, this has been running thru my head… It’s been decades since I heard it last. Earworms are strange things.

And I prefer unscented everything, probably because most scented products are just overpowering! And if you can’t coordinate the scents, it’s just too much - a mix of herbal and fruit and floral and fresh linen and mountain breeze - just no!

One house we bought was saturated with some sort of potpourri - once we painted and replaced all the drapery and left windows open for a few weeks, it was much better.

I am woman - hear me snore!!! I do eventually get a few solid nights.

I know this will give doggio the vapors, but I group mine by type, according to my definition of type, more or less. It makes sense to me.

Poor FCD got stuck in a major traffic mess crossing the bridge into Solomons. They’re doing cleaning/drain clearing so it’s down to one lane, and FCD said the sign holders weren’t the sharpest bulbs on the tree. But I did a search and the’re supposed to be done by 2 this afternoon, so it shouldn’t affect his return trip. I’ve been mostly lazy, but I will make a shepherd’s pie (actually cottage pie) for supper tonight. Till then, more laziness shall ensue.

Good morning, all! I am soooo loving the fall weather: it’s currently 67°F and sunny, with an expected high of 80 – which is a bit warm for my taste, but definitely tolerable when there’s no humidity. It’s perfect open-window weather, as was yesterday. I only have them closed when I’m practicing for the chorale audition: no one on the sidewalk needs to hear me screeching as I try to remember how to sing an E5 in my head voice. :joy:

(If @fachverwirrt lived in my neighborhood, he’d definitely appreciate my closed windows! LOL!)

My 12:45 appointment at CVS yesterday went smoothly: no wait, and after the 10-minute “please hang around just in case the new vax kills you” period I was out of there at 1pm. I browsed Halloween decor – and candy – while waiting, but ultimately left empty-handed. When you get a vaccination at CVS, they hand you a coupon for 10% off any purchase of at least $20: I gave mine to a guy who was walking in as I was leaving. I got both the flu and COVID shots in my right arm, because I knew it would be sore by last night and I lie on my left side while falling asleep. As expected, this morning some lingering mild soreness is the only evidence of the vaccinations (yes, I know that I’m lucky in this regard!). I expect even that to be gone by tomorrow.

My ex came by in the afternoon and took the 4’ aluminum wheelchair ramp, the soft indoor doggy steps, and the biggest dog bed! Woo hoo! He later sent me pictures of each of his dogs trying it out, but neither of them stayed in it for long. Hopefully at least one of them will come to like/use it…but if not, it’s his problem now. That leaves Bailey’s main dog bed (bolstered, with her name on it) and two rectangular “flat” dog beds. One of these days I’ll put the latter on the curb, along with her feeder, extra bowls, leashes, etc. Anyway, there is zero chance that I’ll ever want to get back together with this guy but I’m glad we’re able to get along. We’re fine as sort-of-friends. And it was nice to be able to share Bailey stories with him; he’s the only other person who loved her.

In addition to audition prep, yesterday I also put some Lego together, watched my Yankees get shellacked by the Blue Jays (1-10 ), and did my laundry.

Today will be more audition prep and more Lego, but also a lot of slothing. I’ve been re-watching The Wire: I’m about halfway through S3, which is one of my favorite seasons, and I’m looking forward to watching a few more episodes this afternoon.

It backfired! Please don’t root for them anymore!!!

(:joy:)

:open_mouth: !

You know, I’m generally very tech-savvy and knowledgeable about shortcuts, etc., but every now and then I still learn something new…thank you!!

It wouldn’t be good to ignore such signs!

My TJ’s is only 1 mile from the house: walking there would be all neighborhood streets, but I’ve never wanted to invest that much effort. I see it as mostly a snacks/treats place, which I definitely never need, so the few times a year that I indulge it tends to be an impulse decision when I’m already in the car. If I can find a place to park, though, at least when I leave I can take the “back way” through the neighborhood and not have to deal with the highway traffic (or the traffic light that, when red, causes a backup through most of the parking lot).

I got rid of the dog toys pretty quickly – Bailey hadn’t touched any of them in a while – but I still I have the small grey tote that I used to keep by the back door; it has her leashes and harness in it. Her primary dog bed and her harness are items I can’t face getting rid of yet, but I know that I will eventually.

I took Bailey to puppy class at PetSmart. It was almost 17 years ago (she “graduated” when she was 6 months old), but it was a positive experience and I’d definitely use them again.

So cute!

:joy:

My favorite kind of bread.

Ooooo, very nice!

Hmmmm I had thoughts of pizza all day yesterday but resisted; now I think I’ll order one for lunch. You’re such a bad influence.

My folks separated when I was 15 and my brother was 13: when they told us the news he was shocked and upset, while my reaction was “it’s about time.”

:crossed_fingers: !

Also, your description of the one woman as “can’t shut up / very sweet” reminds me of my oldest friend, who I’ve known since 8th grade. She is absolutely the nicest and most caring person you’d ever want to meet, but great googly moogly does she never stop talking! We went to HS together, and I made the mistake of prodding her to attend our 35th reunion with me last year: we agreed to stick together at the event, only for me to find that she would not stop chattering at whoever was near us. Made it impossible for me to talk with any of our classmates; it might have been nice to try to get reacquainted with a few of them. Ah, well. If there’s a 40th reunion – and I attend – I won’t remind her about it. Heh.

I’m gonna say it was skunk. For some reason, every now and then it smells like coffee to me!

I don’t, though. You would be scandalized by my spice cabinet.

I grabbed my existing jar of cumin and noticed I was nearly out. I keep a lot of “next ups”, so I went to the pantry and found… nothing! Highly unusual for me to run out of any spice ever. But it appeared to be the case.

I went back to where the current jars live, moved a couple of things and – oh, yayy, I have a second jar after all! (C’mon, they kind of look the same!) I just didn’t read it carefully. Saw the ‘Cu’ and assumed.

I thought it smelled a little weird while it was cooking, but it wasn’t till I was eating it later that I identified the flavor. Pretty distinctive. Oh, well. If my friends hate them, they’ll throw them out and I’ll never know any better.

Thank you for that! And I’m making banana bread today, too. Fortunately, my version calls for no spices!

For now, it’s a pot of coffee that beckons. Catch you all later on!

Sausage-and-cheddar omelettes for breakfast today. Showered and shaved. We’re going to try a church down in Fairhaven. Leaving in about 20 minutes.

Nah; it’s mostly not house stuff, though there’s some kitchen things in there. He did get rid of all the furniture. It’s winter wardrobe, shoes, textbooks, gifts… just 9 big bags of it. Most of it wouldn’t sell for anything close to what it would cost to buy again and some is apparently of sentimental value.

Also, that would require a higher degree of sanity than my friend posesses.

He claims he’s found somewhere reasonably priced that will pick up. We shall see.

Have had my early Sunday dinner (beat the Church crowds) and have opened up the dishwasher and might even put the clean dishes away…sometime. Am dressed for gym work but not decided if I will go or not, I look at the calories consumed already today that say I should and then I think about it and think a day off in sloth isn’t a bad thing after all…we’ll see how it goes. Clouding up outside, temperature is near 80F but without the sun beating down on me it doesn’t feel than warm either inside or out.

JtC, now I feel embarrassed, I’m close to my library and have a card, but seldom check out anything as I have such an extensive home library, but you and Pilot make good points so maybe add some browsing time there to my schedule next week.

FCM, don’t think I’ve ever heard than John Denver song…a nice, whimsical tune but my will says I should be cremated after harvesting any organs that are still useable by others, so will never be buried anywhere.

:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Oopsie, glad the appointment went well, and that ex could make use of some of Bailey’s stuff. Don’t think I have any ‘can’t shut up’ friends, but there are a couple guys at the gym I avoid at all costs because they will talk the ears off of anyone who responds to them.

And OK, I’m going to the gym now! Well, I think I am…see you later either way.

I’ve got a couple of relatives in that category, which is why I avoid phone calls and opt for email instead. Self-preservation!

FCD is on his way home - dunno if he’s worn out or if he got everything done that he wanted to do. But the project on the bridge should be done, so with luck, his commute back will be smooth..

I fell asleep in my recliner for about an hour and I feel a tad disoriented. That’s why I don’t like to nap - it messes with my brain! However, I did decide against the shepherd’s (cottage) pie because of the smashed spud topping. Instead, I’ll use the same ingredients plus beef broth and make a pot of soup. We’ll see how that works out. So supper is planned.
