This is way too mild for the pit, but I’m pissed. Why? Because the one store - the only single retailer where I could reliably find pants that actually fit - is no longer making my size.
Yup. I saw it at the local Old Navy this past week and searched, desperately on their website. It looks for all the world like they’re not making any pants in size 0 anymore. Which means I can no longer get size 0-short* jeans or other pants there. Which means I’m back to scouring for the largest possible wide-cut girls’ sizes, or trying on any size one I can find, in hopes that they’re cut just a little bit smaller than normal.
Old Navy, why hath thou abandoned me so?
*Yes, that’s seriously the size I wear, because I’m five-foot-nothing and fairly small-framed. First person to even think of saying how great it must be to be so small gets a good hard smack.
That sucks I have a friend who is your size and she wears all boys clothes. Not men’s…boys. I am hard pressed to believe that boys pants have nice curves to them!
Think of this tho - you can thank Brittney Spears for making little girls want to dress like slutty older women, so you can at least look forward to finding something slutty in your size
Now if only we could get the girls to be into smart business attire, you’d have no problems!
That’s no good. At least I can be pretty sure Mark’s Work Wearhouse won’t be dropping stuff that fits me. (6’5", 35 waist, 36 leg. If only it were Big or Tall, not Big and Tall).
My husband has that problem with the Big And Tall stores, and coincidentally, today he found out that Old Navy does in fact carry his size. He grabbed a pair of khakis and two sweatshirts, and went away a very happy man. I was pleased to find some clothes that I could actually wear to work as well, so overall they’re up on my scorebook.
I feel your pain. I had a male, 22-year old roommate who was about 5-6 and I’d guess a 28-inch waist (skinny). He said he had to go to the boy’s department in places like JC Penney’s.
I am a female 5’8" with a 34" inseam. I can never find pants that fit. It doesn’t help that I am shaped like a skinny 12 year old boy. The Gap used to make pants that fit me and I was in love, they tossed me out like a dish-rag and now I’m back to mens levi’s (the smallest waist with a 34" inseam they make) and make do.
Unfortunately, when you buy online and unfamiliar style, it’s alot of trial and error, I’ve got 2 pairs of pants that were way too hippy (as in I don’t have any) that I was too lazy to return.
Good luck to you. Do what I do, go look for pants when you are in a really fabulous mood so when you have tried on your 30th pair with no luck, you will only be depressed, not suicidal.
Oh, and you short legged women, just shush, you can’t make pants shorter, ya can’t make 'em longer.
GAP makes them long again now, that’s all I’ve been hearing about on the tall girl community I belong to.
Too bad they don’t make them big enough in the waist/hips/thighs for me (at least I don’t have a problem buying from the guy’s section. My problem is finding dress pants.)
I’m tall and skinny. My Levi’s are 30" Waist and 34" Length. Other jeans don’t fit, so I can only wear the Levis…My Mother-in-Law found some Wranglers in my size once and bought me like 6 pairs, and they fit ok, but it feels like I have a vice-grip on my family jewels.
Anyway, a couple of years ago, I decided to buy a few pairs of slacks, rather than just wear jeans all the time. Nobody seems to have them in my size. I tried Sears, Dillard’s, and all the other department stores. If they have my length, they’re a 36" waist. If they have my waist, they might as well be shorts…my legs are longer than 22 inches!
I have 6 pairs of blue pants that came from Cintas uniform company that fit right, but they’re 10 years old now and getting a little threadbare.
The last time I bought a suit (in 2001), they couldn’t even adjust the pants to fit right…the crotch feels like it’s hanging down between my knees!
I’m doomed to wear Levi’s for the rest of my life I guess.
Of course. Old Navy has more casual fashions at reasonable prices so your size is a little bit bigger, Gap is a little more upscale (& expensive) and your size is a bit smaller, and Banana Replublic is their most upscale fashions which uncoincidentally are also the most expensive and what do you know, your size is the smallest possible. They are just telling you what you want to hear, if you are willing to pay for it. If they had something akin to an Armani you’d be shopping in the little girls section, and paying out the nose for it.
My problem with Old Navy is that sizing seems to be random. Last summer I grabbed a dozen pairs of shorts that were marked as having 29, 30, or 31 inch waists, and the actual sizes were all over the map. I ended up getting a pair marked 31 inch, because they were smaller than pairs marked 29.
Thank you. I recently read (like Saturday) a Motley Fool name this company that I could tell was Gap, and hinted at Old Navy, but I couldn’t figure out the other name they hinted at. You have now provided me with the missing information.
I did a store search for 579 and there’s one in Albuqurque (you’re in Santa Fe, right)? A bit of a drive, but if you could get there, I’d try that store.
