(Old) Where in the world is the MMP?

Without going into boring details, there’s been several chains of communication breakdown between management, staff, and other staff, leading to domino effects of the unpleasant variety (I had to plead a big apology today, after spending my lunch break having what Southern belles call a “come apart” and realizing the situation was, roughly, 50/50/50 on whose fault, and yeah, the math works out) so I spent my last pennies at Ye Olde Dispo just now before they closed and I’m just gonna try to chill.

Tomorrow is Long Night, oh, and S.M. was out sick today so 1a.) that didn’t help dynamics and 2b.) who knows what germs tomorrrow might bring.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 53 degrees Ferret Height(11.667 Centipedes). It’s my Firday.

{{{{shoe}}}}

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 53 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 84 and sunny. I shall serve at a funeral at eleven a.m. for a very sweet lady. She was one of our Luteruns, thus it will be a Luterun service. Barbara will be plopped down in the columbarium next to her husband who died in 2020 just as covid was crankin’ up. There is a reception afterwards and I must again deal with candles before I leave. The rest of the day will be spent in RDOS inactivities. Any need to feed today will be via forage.

shoe may long night be better than last night.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for funeralizin’ must commence.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 10c/50f with a predicted high of 11c/51f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s a decent fucking day outside. Have some fucking Toblerone.” Odd choice, and I think I’ll pass on that one.

I wouldn’t mind so much except she keeps banging on about things that happened at work over a decade ago. It’s not the first time either, I’ve read her very extensive personnel file from previous departments and it does not paint a good picture. She just wears me out sometimes, so I’ve really enjoyed a break from her

That sounds like an amazing and very moving experience, it’s good to know that your friend was so well-loved and so deeply honoured by her friends and family.

Nuts - next Tuesday, ‘kay?

Oh, that really is beautiful. You’re very lucky to have that view, it must be immensely cheering on days when you’re feeling a bit low.

She has a very light workload, she does most of the admin for a very small department so she’s got time on her hands. I can’t find her anything more to do that doesn’t impact on the rest of the team, and I’m trying very hard to kind of isolate her in that respect because we’ve had so much trouble with her creating a very toxic situation with a colleague.

It was very tempting to suggest the solution would be a bucket of steam

Our local football team has had a string of Portuguese players recently and that’s led to a few cafés opening up that specialise in their tradition cuisine. It’s been quite interesting for us, having new things to try.

Despite the best efforts of our building’s ancient boiler (overheated and triggered the fire alarm), I managed to get home pretty much on time yesterday. Tended to the needs of cats, heated up leftover chilli for dinner, got changed and we were on our way to the opening night of Mayor’s Fest. It’s a weekend charity music festival organised by a couple of friends of mine, proceeds go to our Mayor’s chosen charities so it’s all in a good cause. First night was at the Giffard where we got to see three excellent bands - it was good to see friends I’ve not seen for a while too, I got hugged and kissed three times before we’d even got upstairs to collect our wristbands!

After the last band finished, we went downstairs to finish our drinks and chatted to a couple of people before we headed out to go to the Posada. It’s part of my cunning plan to get home at a reasonable hour - the Posada shuts at 1am, the Giffard shuts at 3am so it kind of guarantees that we won’t be out extremely late. Anyway, the Posada was not very busy, we had a chat to the barmaid and her partner (who are going to Day 2 of Mayor’s Fest today), avoided engaging with the Beatles obsessed guy from last time, and were home by 1am. We usually go into town with Uber, and get a black cab home…the cabbie looked at us and just said “just up from the Samaritans, isn’t it?” so he has obviously taken us home a few times before! He was quite chatty and we had a laugh about some of the local characters around our way.

This morning we’re up and about, cats are fed and fussed, we’re clean and tidy, and just about to have a bacon butty before we head out to KK’s for today’s musical shenanigans. Seven mainstage bands, and seven acoustic acts in between so lots to look forward to. There’s only one band that I’ve never seen before so that’ll be fun. Now all I have to do is decide which t-shirt I’m wearing!

Choppy night, weird dreams, but I dragged myself out of bed at 7 to start my day. By choppy night, I mean I’d wake, look and the clock, then fall back to sleep, almost hourly. Dunno why that happens - it can’t be good sleep. Oh well. Starting the day with 50 Ferrets, headed to the low 70s. Not warm enough to open the house, tho.

I’m going to be messing about with plants for a bit - moving the plants that wintered indoors to the front porch. I’ve also got 8 petunias to plant in the front porch planters, plus some creeping phlox that will go on the hill along the driveway. And I may transplant some stuff to the front hill - depends on my energy level and my back.

Daughter et al will be coming over after lunch. The kids are all excited to decorate the slot car track with lego and stuff. FCD will be working on the train layout. Trevor will be here, too, to frolic with Otis. Dunno what I’ll be doing. Tho I will recruit one of the adults to help me move the recliner love seat in front of the fireplace downstairs ahead of the birthday party next Sat,

What else will unfold? We’ll see as it happens.

Happy Saturday!!

High of 48 today and 83 tomorrow! Glad we had our screens reinstalled yesterday.

Haircuts for both of us today. I’m starting to look fairly gnarly in the morning.

Breakfast should be bagel with avocado, but if the latter turn out to be over the hill, then salmon cream cheese. Side of scrambled.

The wife got us tickets for “Sleuth” tomorrow, but I really have a hard time with the seats in that theater so I’m hoping she decides not to go.

Oh, I hate those nights. I call that kind of sleep “skimming stones.”

Saturday already?! Gadzooks!

I finished the jigsaw puzzle, Vintage Toy Stamps. I had no idea there was such a category. It had a piece missing. I’ll make a more thorough search later, under the couch.

Sitting in a restaurant in Portugal with some friends after doing some tourist type stuff. Hopefully pictures will be forthcoming, visited and on old city with medieval walls and Nazzare, which is known for it’s big waves (and they are epic). Tomorrow will be more touring with friends and then get on the boat Monday for the cruise.

Have scanned through all but in no position to answer. Take care all.

Good morning, all.

It’s 48F and rain is falling. Steady rain is expected for the morning, tapering to showers in the afternoon, with a daytime high of 57F.

Metal Mouse, I am looking forward to the pictures.

I also had a restless night, filled with disturbing dreams, none of which I can now remember. However, the dreams constantly woke me up.

Shoe, I hope tonight, although long, is much better than last night.

I have never been a fan of McNuggets because the texture is weird, or at least it was when the kids were little. I don’t eat them at all.

BooFae, yep, I had TMs or TC (co-workers) who would constantly dredge up stuff from years ago. It was exhausting. Given that and the very negative attitudes, I did my best to interact only when necessary.

There are no plans other than obtaining groceries today. The poor pups are out of doggy ice cream, which, around this house, is akin to being out of TP. We need people food, too.

I rolled out of bed at a much later time this morning, so the pups were STAH-VING. I fed and pillowed them, made me coffee, and then sat down to read the news and the comics. I shall have some more coffee, perhaps peruse real estate, and then shower. Buster is asleep on my feet, and the morning is quiet so far.

You all take care.

Happy Saturnday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Today’s agenda includes making a batch of banana nut muffins and cleaning the bathroom (joy!). Other than that, RDOS.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I’d be tempted to point out how long ago it was, adding “Give it a rest!” But I was lucky never to be a boss and never to have coworkers quite that bad. Plus having been RDOS for 6 years, I can smile smugly.

Otis has never had doggy ice cream, but he lurves him some ice! Whenever either of us opens the freezer, he’s right there eyeing the ice bin. We’ve got a bottom freezer drawer, so the ice is at his eye level. He’s a hoot!

I’ve moved the inside plants back outside, planted the petunias and the phlox, and transplanted 4 or 5 self-started forsythia. I have at least one self-started azalea that will get moved, but not till I give my back a rest. Just going to share one pic (the others will be on FB) - the marigolds went in last week, and the croton was just moved from an inside window to the outside world where it seems happier. Dunno if I’ve ever mentioned it but the gawd-awful paint job is not our fault. I think the sellers slapped some cheap paint on the porch just to impress and the first time I hosed off the porch, paint started coming up. Classy, huh?
Imgur

Once the sprinkler timer goes off (it’s Alexa reminding me) I’ll dig up the azalea volunteer, plant it on the hill, then move the sprinkler. Till then, mini-chillage.

Oh, Buster and Maisie are huge fans of ice. I let a couple of ice cubes fall from the ice dispenser so they can have some. In the summer, I give them a little ice in a bowl, and they go nuts.

Definitely pass. No longer made in Switzerland.

This only child is not napping. Gave it napping about 50+ years ago and haven’t picked up the habit again.

Was supposed to get around to cleaning windows and outside blinds, but decided to go to the vehicle museum because they are having their Rail Days, and hubby loves trains. Second week in a row we saw our neighbors in town. Haven’t seen them around home for months, so that’s rather amusing that we run into them.

Had a Tequila Collins (thank you Doggio) and and fish frikadellen with tartar sauce - they were on sale at the store. Going to make garlic bread to try to scare off the mosquitos - hubby killed a blood-filled one yesterday. Which is why I was going to clean the windows and get the screens in place. But I’m done with chores for today. At least hubby got the grass mowed before some rain dropped in.

Really enjoying the 19°C/66°F weather. Tomorrow it’s supposed to cool down and I think we have a frost warning for Monday. Silly spring.

Happy Saturday!

Speaking of trains, FCD laid out some tracks, then discovered that the ancient transformers appear to be dead. He’s headed out on a couple of errands, which include stopping at the train hobby store in Leonardtown to see if it’s worth trying to rebuild our transformer. Looks like new ones start around $180…going up to over $1K!!!

I transplanted 3 azalea bits - all white. I need to see if any of the red ones have rooted some extras. Not today, tho. Maybe tomorrow?

I’ve lunched, I’m making ice, and waiting for the grands and their parents to arrive.

Thank you - everyone, I just picked one quote at random - for the kind words. I’m hurt that nobody thought I was important enough to loop into the communication, but imma let this one go (mostly) and let it be water under the bridge.

Meanwhile, I opened the door a bit ago so Monkey can enjoy the sunshine, and promptly went back to bed so I could loll around on my phone while eating a mini eclair for breakfast. Such is “self care” at Casa Del Shoe.

I’m making ice,

{ Buster and Maisie are staring with longing expectancy. }

I was on the 100 and 200 Slides again. I had to do the 2 carts of Metro Twilight leftovers, plus one from Falls. Then I had to help out K on the 300. She’s been with the company 26 years, but it’s been all during Twilight, and she doesn’t know some of the preload stuff. And apparently I am the only person to show her how. After we got that wrapped up, I had to do the damages and rewraps. Yesterday I had an empty box from some Random House books, and a Vivo PC monitor stand that had fallen out of the packaging. Today I got the empty bag for the monitor stand, and the Random House books.. But I have showered, laundered, and had bacon, eggs, and a gin&tonic to fight off this darn scurvy flare up. Quick nap before hockey.

[1st Century C.E. Judean]BLOODY SAMARITANS![/1 Century C.E. Judean]

I’ve had that this week.

My family did that in Germany. Of course the minute we pulled up to the main gate, 500 Japanese tourists come streaming out, and we look at my uncle like “How lost are we?!?”

Have Alexa remind Nut about Tuesday.

Maggie Wonderbeagle was a fan. Although one time she gave herself an ice cube headache, and was running around the apartment yowling.

Everybody’s hungry so I just ordered our Chinese dinner. They say it’ll be 55 minutes. I’m guessing closer to 20, because that’s pretty much how it always goes with this place. So I need to get the table set up.

Tobias has been extra exuberant today - ie NOISY!!! They plan to leave right after supper. So yay for that! I’ll be in serious need of quiet. OK, time to set the table.

Evening all (well, it’s 9pm here). Posted some pics and video on my book of faces, if your interested but need my info, pm me or possibly someone like FCM or one of the other long time Mumpers can help. Been windy most of the day and still blowing hard, but the morning rain has departed.

Trying to keep up but just getting my posts done is about the limit of my capabilities.

More touring tomorrow.

Right, I’ve finished planting the new shrubs in front and added new mulch. I think it looks pretty good.

I am now filthy and enjoying a Limoncello La Croix.

Next stop: shower.
