Unfortunately, no
I work at an independent video store.
We have Oldboy, amidst a couple thousand other cult classics and foreign films.
Support video-stores. Netflix has nothing on us
There are a couple of indie stores here but downtown only. Not near me. But the convenience of Netflix is just too good. I could never find anything I really wanted at video stores.
:BUMP:
Saw Oldboy yesterday.
Dude.
That was a really good movie and I have to give mad props to Choi Min-sik for playing an amazing character and delivering a great performance throughout.
I went in clueless about the twists(I knew he was imprisoned, but I didn’t even know he escaped). I was blown away. And disturbed.
The squid eating scene must have been an interesting day at work for the cast and crew.
This may seem odd, but when I was done with the movie, I fried up some Pork Dumplings(jiaozi) and ate them for dinner. I can not imagine eating only those for 15 years(but they were a good treat yesterday).
At the end, are we to suspect his final hypnosis has not worked and he remembers that Mi-do is his daughter? He smiles when she embraces him, but his face looks slightly agonized after a moment.
What an amazing movie. Wasn’t even nominated for best foreign movie that year at the Oscars? Wow.
Great, great, movie.
I read that the actor is, in real life, a Buddhist vegan, making the octopus scene (real!) a helluva committed performance…
Yes, that is exactly the message that should be coming across. Glad you liked it!
Stood, I believe he prayed for the octopus each time. IIRC,there were three takes.
