Oldest poster?

I have been away for quite a while. As I will be 92 in two weeks, was wondering if i am now the oldest poster. Unlike a Poster Child.

[morbid] For the time being [/morbid]

You’ve got the title so far as I know. Congratulations!

Whoa, I just realized you’re as old as my grandmother.

I’ll throw out a preemptive ‘Happy Birthday’, Geoff.

I gotta ask, how many of your 92 years on this blue marble has been wasted spent on these li’l Boards?

Tripler
There was another thread about that somewhere.

Thanks Dung, at least you did not great grandmother.

I am very glad I have not kept track, that would be discouraging. It has been fun though.

But it’s still a smaller as a percentage than most people here! (I’m going on the halfway mark, myself.)

Yay KlondikeGeoff! I was wondering if you were still participating, and OK and all that!

In a digital world it’s easy to end up in virtual communities where the median age is less than 30. One thing I really appreciate about the SDMB is the input and insight of folks who remember the 50s and 40s and even 30s from firsthand recollections.

It’s gotta be, what, about 8 months?

Congratulations !

When I saw an oldest poster thread, I figured people would be discussing Farrah Fawcett.

Not even close.

Please try and keep calm KlondikeGeoff

Geoff! Glad to see you’re still here! Both on the SDMB and in the Meat Space.

Who’s the second oldest poster?? No one ever has Geoff beat.

Well hey there. Happy Birthday.

For sure, the '30s were no fun at all. I grew up during the Great Depression, and now looks like I’ll go out with this damned pandemic, which has not be a barrel of laughs so far.

I, and I am sure most of us, would love to hear more of your recollections.

Be careful what you wish for. Is there any limit to the length of a post. I could go on for thousands of words.

Welcome back! I’d been gone 2+ years, got back a couple weeks ago, and was worried that in the interim you’d gone to your reward.

Glad to see that’s not yet. Keep on Truckin!

My aged MIL turns 95 next month. Last week she tested positive for COVID but it was apparently a false positive. She’s another pre-war tank. You can do it!

Eh, it don’t matter. I go on and on and on…and they ain’t kicked me off.
I get pinched pretty hard on occasion.

Spill them memories. I wanna hear 'em.
First subject: tell us about your first date.

I have good friends who have another good friend who is 94. The 94-year-old came down with covid-19. She was in a nursing home at the time because she’d had a bad fall and was waiting for her broken pelvis to knit.

She’s back home; no longer ill with covid, and back on her feet.

Some people in their 90’s are amazingly sturdy.

A few weeks ago Hari Seldon mentioned that he was in his early 80s, and I wondered then if he was the oldest Doper. Nope, Hang in there, Hari, you’ve got miles to go before you sleep. And stay safe, Geoff!

You could argue that in order to get to your 90s you have to be sturdy.
