Ole Miss-Vietnam demonstration-thoughts

I graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1990. Ole Miss (the horrid nickname) is still very conservative student body. Was ther any kind of Vietnam war protest there? A man I knew who graduated from Alabama in the 60s said that there was in
Tuscaloosa. Was there a liberal long haired element in Oxford during those years?

there- I spelled it right. Ther was no typing classes at UM when I was there.

Why don’t you try searching the Clarion-Ledger, the Oxford Eagle, or even the Daily Mississippian?

Very few Mississippians here.

Fewer Rebels.

Yes. There has always been a long-haired liberal element at Ole Miss. You just can’t see them, that’s all.

The anti-war people were not very vocal. As you stated, it’s a very conservative place. Oxford lost its share of local boys to the war.

P.S. Why do you say Ole Miss is a horrid nickname?

Every time I see this thread title, I think it’s about a demonstration in favor of an elderly Asian beauty queen . . .
