Olivia Newton-John covers Dylan- most unlikely remake?

Cardigans covering Iron Man.

Aw, c’mon. Not a single comment on this gem? It is truly a unique effort…

Even though “Ride On” was one of AC/DC’s mellower songs, it’s still a surprise to hear Norah Jones singing it.

I mean, someone like Norah isn’t even supposed to know who AC/DC are!

What I’d like to hear, in terms of improbable covers, is someone with no signing voice doing something that requires a lot of range and technique. Like, maybe, Melanie doing Manhattan Transfer’s “Birdland.” That would be improbable. Probably painful to hear, too.

Dolly Parton’s cover of “Stairway” is pretty awesome too, now that I think about it. I actually had that version on my iPod before the original.

How about the Kronos Quartet doing Purple Haze?

“If Not For You” was a co-write with George Harrison, and though good, isn’t the kind of densely poetic thing people think of when they think “Dylan song.”…

You’re right, I stand corrected.

The Circle Jerks covering Jackie DeShannon’s “Put A Little Love In Your Heart” is priceless.

On 33 1/3 by the Frank & Joe Show, guitarist Frank Vignola and drummer Joe Ascione, legit Jazz musicians, do a remake of the Theme from the old 1960s Saturday morning TV show Spiderman.

Wow.

So did the Ramones.

You may be thinking of this.

Wall of Voodoo was the original artist for “Mexican Radio.”

Heh. I have both versions (WoV and CF), in my car right now.

So did Moxy Früvous.

I came to post Pet Shop Boys doing Willie Nelson’s Always on my Mind, but Coversproject tells me that Elvis did it before Willie, which I hadn’t known.

And of Johnny Cash’s version of Nine Inch Nails’ Hurt, but then I see that it’s also been covered by Tori Amos, David Bowie, Sevendust, and The Razor Skyline.

I don’t know half of that last list, so I have no idea if they’re unlikely or not.
