Do the divers who who use the springboard do different types of dives than platform divers? Do individuals usually train on only one type of board or the other, or is the training interchangable? How do the platform divers view the springboard divers, and vice versa? Is their a heirarchy?
I’m not a diving expert and I can’t even swim, but the springboard is 3 meters up and the platform is 10 meters so there obviously has to be some difference. You can do a lot more stuff with 10 meters to travel rather than the 3 meters plus whatever you get when you jump off the springboard.
I’ve seen people do handstands off the platform and that looks hard to do off a springboard.
I think most divers do both, but some are specialists in one area.
Personally, I would be scared to jump off a platform 10 meters above the surface of the pool. But since I can’t swim, I think it’s more than a fear of heights.
