We just got word that the rent for some of us in Housing will be raised 80%. This was in an ammendment signed by the Prez,snuck by Congress! HUD
Ugh.
Not much else to say about this OP.
Seems like kind of a waste to change the Constitution just to raise housing prices. I mean, freedom of speech, outlawing slavery, giving women the right to vote, raising rent… One of these just doesn’t belong.

The rent won’t go up 80%. The rent will be based on 80% of local Fair Market Rents, but not increase by more than 35% in any one year. Also, if the rent is already at 80% of the FMR, it won’t change.

You have yet to provide any sort of source for your claim that this has happened. While there is an item in a proposed budget that will set a $50 minimum rent for those getting USDA rural rental assistance, it’s not yet law.
