Crazyhorse:
The gloves are to protect you from the food servers germs. Bare skin contact with already-cooked or ready to eat food is usually against health laws. For whatever reason they don’t consider the germs on money to be a likely cause of food contamination. At least according to the health dept. of NY.
They do ‘recommend’ a hand-washing and change of gloves before handling food again after handling money, but don’t require it.
I guess this explains the Dunkin Donuts “pick up donut with napkin, put napkin in bag with donut” policy. Sort of.
If I have to censor all of my actions on the off chance that somebody in the room might find it gross, I will get very little done. Or must I only be concerned about your particular hang-ups?
Rather than continue the hijack, I started a thread devoted to this important question. We will finally resolve whether I am uptight or you are gross!
Pullet:
I got home from work yesterday and was just about to start making dinner when I realized I still had dried blood from a dog’s burst anal gland abscess under one of my finger nails.
I washed my hands and ate my damned sandwich like a grown-up.
Damn, I hate it when that happens.
