On Gmail and Mozilla's Firefox.

Techie help needed.

Is it just my computer, or do ‘popup’ windows in Gmail not open with Firefox? For example, the ‘Invite a Friend’ window doesn’t open if clicked on. Neither does the ‘Contacts’ window.

Is there some utterly obvious solution to this that is escaping me, or is this a bug somewhere?

It works fine – albeit with a long delay – on my system, although I am still using Firebird, version 0.7. Are you using a third-party pop-up blocker with Firefox, or any extensions that might be to blame? Which version of Firefox are you using? Give us a few details and I’m sure we can fix your problem.

I know that in previous versions, you could hold down CTRL (or poss. SHIFT?) while clicking a link with a pop-up, and the key combination would override the pop-up blocking. Give that a try and report back. Oh, and when come back, bring… um… stuff for us to eat.

I was using Firefox 0.8. The CTRL/SHIFT thing never worked. Also, I had no clashing extensions or popup blockers installed (to my knowledge). Anyway, I just upgraded to 0.9 in desperation, and all seems to be well now. Popups, popups everywhere…!

As for, the food items, there ya go.

I’m using FireFox, and have had no problem with it. It seems to open slightly slow, but I’ve just attributed that to the MP3s I’m playing, as they tend to bog my system down. (Playlists of about 250 songs’ll do that, I suppose).

And another update from me. I’ve gone right back to Firefox 0.8. The newest 0.9 release gave my computer constipation.

Simple solution to my problem which I missed:

Go to Tools --> Options --> Web Features --> Add “gmail.google.com/gmail” to the list of sites always allowed to open popups.

This has been a very intelligent thread… :smack:

Heh. I have two different builds of Firebird/Firefox at home and at work, and two different problems. At work, with Firebird, the logout link has to be dragged to the tab to function. Just clicking on it throws a Javascript exception. At home, with Firefox, the edit contact links don’t do anything. Up until last Friday that was almost enough to get me to use IE, but never mind that now.
