Becky is supposed to be a bitch and Goranson plays a bitch better than Chalke, but I prefer Sara C as an actress.
I think Goranson better looked the part of a lower-middle-class kid. Chalke is a little too pretty.
As the first person to cast a vote, I prefer Lecy. She just looks more the part; not unattractive by any means but not “Hollywood cute”. SC just looks and seems too sweet to be part of the Connor clan.
I have a vested interest in Beckys. Chalke is who I associate with the role. You know it’s Becky with the good hair;)

Lecy by a mile, for me. I always thought she was underrated back in the show’s heyday: she didn’t get the good lines that Sara Gilbert got and her character (by design) was kind of grating, but she did a great job of making Becky believable and even kind of sympathetic.
this is what I was going to say exactly. I look at Sarah Chalke and don’t see someone who is supposed to be Roseanne and Dan’s kid. Lecy, I do.
Yep. Not even close or a question for me. Lecy is the better actress for the role.
I am in the “Lecy fit the role better, but Sarah is the better actress” camp. Lecy looked like part of the Conner family, Sarah stuck out like Marilyn in The Munsters.
Lecy Goranson
Imagine flipping their roles in the revival where Chalke would play the daughter and Goranson would play the character who drops by. That would be all kinds of wrong.
I’ve not seen Lecy Goranson in anything besides Roseanne, but given that, I’ll say Sarah Chalke is funnier, but Goranson is the better actress (at least at 14 or whatever age she was during the original run).

Sarah Chalke is the other Becky. That’s not so much an opinion as an observation, I think, and that sort of cements it for me: however good SC may have been, she was the alternate. I may have felt the other way had I seen her first, but…well, that’s not what happened!
I yield to no man in my delight in Sarah Chalke’s presence on screen, but that notwithstanding: Lecy is Becky, Sarah is the other Becky.
Sarah Chalke is certainly pretty – conventionally pretty – but I always found fit the role better and was attractive enough to boot. I loved the horrified look she would get on her face whenever her parents embarrassed her. I suspect she nailed the typical mortified teenager look perfectly.
Didn’t vote because I never really got into the show enough to tell. I do know that, when I did watch, it tended to be Chalke in the role. I agree she didn’t seem bitchy, though. More like the exasperated one.
Becky 1, I could not stand Chalke as Becky 2 (I liked her on scrubs, though)

I voted Sarah Chalke, but the majority may well be right in picking Lecy Goranson. Chalke was definitely the better actor, though. In fact, as noted elsewhere, there weren’t many good actors on that show besides John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, and Sara Gilbert.
And it’s important to know that Michael Fishman didn’t play the original DJ.
Yeah, I was just blanking on the actor’s name but yeah, Fishman was the 2nd, better DJ. Apparently the original DJ (dunno the actor’s name) had parents who pullled him and moved away from Hollywood after the pilot. (probably good parenting, definitely good for the show)
