For the record, no one else ever said exactly that either.
I’ve heard both. For a while I was sure he was saying “effin’ cry”. Then once I heard “laugh and cry”, and it occurred to me that that makes a lot more sense in context. You can listen to both the original and season 3 themes and see if you hear a difference. It sounds to me like he says “effin’ cry” on the original and “laugh and cry” on the 3rd season.

I believe that Draelin was referring back to the Mary Shelley’s novel in which Victor Frankenstein creates a creature that has no name. The fact of the creature’s having no name is fairly important to the novel, actually.
But to be fair, the novel refers to Victor’s creation as “the creature.” The Creature is quick, rather limber, and thoughtful, highly intelligent even. This other guy, the tall, green, lumbering, buffoon monster, called Frankenstein, is probably a different character all together. Coyote and he never get invited to the cool parties, while Wile E. and The Creature are all the rage at the hot spots.

According to McFarlene, it was supposed to be “Laugh and Cry” the whole time. He said he redid the line in season three because most people thought it was “effen cry”.
In the Family Guy DVD commentaries, McFarlane mentions that it’s “Laugh and cry” at least twice, though he may have achieved some level of super dry, ironic wit that mere mortals cannot detect, or perhaps he was saving his ass from a lawsuit or censors or something (though he had no problem with blumpkins).
Hmmm. Is there a cite for this? Because after some careful listening I don’t quite hear this as ‘sic.’ (As in Latin for ‘thus?’ Not ‘sick?’) I agree that he’s NOT saying ‘think,’ but it sure sounds a lot more like ‘sink’ or maybe even ‘sing’ than ‘sic.’ In fact, if you listen closely, just after he says ‘soul’ there is just the hint of an ‘n’ sound in there…it ALMOST sounds like he’s saying…er, ‘N’Sync.’
It is definitely “Think!” The “th” sound is clearly audible.
Yep, it was definitely a real-life incident: Crime Library Link, Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle. He was acquitted, and the jury’s statement even included an apology to him.
