Once the caliper mounting bracket is removed on a 2009 Elantra, shouldn't the rotor just slide off?

Phillips screw heads come in different sizes. The #2 is most common. These are #3, and tight – a regular #2 screwdriver usually won’t get it. I generally use a #3 bit with an impact driver.

Hyundai Elantra Rotors are notorious for freezing onto the wheel hub. There is an opening on the back side of the rotor that you can place a bolt into. Driving the bolt with a wrench eventually breaks the bond with the wheel hub. This is how I removed mine after hours of swearing and banging on the rotor with large hammers to no avail.

Are you talking rotors, or the wheels themselves. Because in my experience the friggin’ wheels on this car get frozen in place too. I had to whack away at them with a 20 lb axe maul just to get them off. The driver’s side (salt side) of the car was the worst. It took me 20 minutes to get the front left wheel off, after removing the wheel lugs. Ridiculous.

ETA: There’s probably no way I could change a flat tire on this car with the normal tools I carry.
