My cleaning lady put them on the shelf with my own DVDs, so I didn’t realize I still had them.
Well, three of the four titles are new releases with waiting lists, so it cost us money while you had them.
I know, but it wasn’t my fault, it was my cleaning lady’s fault.
*So . . . if you rented a car, and asked your cleaning lady to return it for you, but she kept it herself for an extra week, would you expect *that to be waived?
Excuse me?
If you rented a car for 7 days, but didn’t return it for 14 days, would you expect to have to pay for the extra time you kept it?
Well, yeah, but . . .
It’s pretty much the same with a movie, ma’am. I understand it wasn’t intentional, but that’s not really the point. Those movies were not available to our other customers while you had them, so someone has to pay for the time they were being used. If it were a car, would you ask the rental company to pay for the time the car was being used by you, or by someone you gave the car to?
No, I’d probably take it out of my cleaning lady’s salary.
See? Isn’t that better than taking it out of my salary? Win-win! Now get out.
