One for silent film experts

“Birth of a Nation” was based on Thomas Dixon’s “The Clansman.”

The film was a landmark that most of us are probably familiar with.

He later wrote a sequel “Fall of a Nation,” which was also made into a movie.

Here’s the question: Does anyone know if there are any surviving prints of “Fall?”

My Miss Know-It-All card is going to be revoked—but this one has me stumped. I dunno!

Holy smokes, you’re right! I just looked it up on the IMdB.

Written AND directed by the odious Mr. Dixon, produced in 1916, starring those deathless film idols Virginia Holland and Charles Waldron.

NO damn idea either whether it still exists.

Dang. I’ve been looking all over for info on this ever since I saw your post, and I can’t find anything more than the most basic info.
This might be one for the Movie Answer Man…

“One more anal-probing, gyro, pyro, levitating, eco-plasm, alien anti-matter story and I’m gonna take out my gun and shoot somebody.”
– Fox Mulder

If you will notice in the IMDB listing, it was reviewed by a guy named Jim Beaver, who has about a zillion reviews on the IMDB, and who posts his email address with the review. Just a guess, but he must have seen it at some point to review it. Try dropping him a line to see where he found it.

Jim Beaver, eh? I bet. :stuck_out_tongue:

“His eyes are as green as a fresh-pickled toad,
His hair is as dark as a blackboard,
I wish he was mine, he’s really divine,
The hero who conquered the Dark Lord.”
