One man's view of abortion

Is it? If someone seems to make exceptions for other circumstances and decide that life isn’t the most important right when certain other considerations are there, doesn’t it then seem like there is something specific about abortion that is different? Life is the most important, except when it’s the death penalty, or going to war, or shooting a robber, or donating a kidney, or being an organ donor after death, or paying for health care, or all sorts of other things. In fact, life is the most important… only when it’s up against a woman’s right to bodily integrity.

If someone claims principles, I want to see some consistency. If there is none, I’m going to figure that it’s not principles at work.

Yes. Abortion is actively taking a human life. I am against the death penalty in all cases too, and against picking up arms which leads to actively take lives. I’m against euthanasia to actively take a life. I don’t believe in compelling organ donation because not donating is not the same as actively taking a life.

Excellent point, JSG, and I would add, if you are claiming principles, what have you done to earn the right to such principles ?

What portion of a 40 hour week have you devoted to assisting women who are attempting to end a pregnancy, and what percentage of your income is allocated to easing their burden ? ?
