Of all the websites I visit, one in particular (no, not this one) loads veeerrrrryyy sllloowwly on, of all the computers I use, one in particular. Why might this be?
Probably I’ll need to post details about the website and the computer, but I thought I’d throw the General Question out there first. Dear experts, if you need details, which details do you need?
Initially, I’d wager it was a problem with the server, but if the slowdown only occurs on one computer, then any number of minor changes to the computer could cause a problem like this.
Is there anything special on this one computer that sets it apart from the others?
Has the HOSTS file been modified at all on the one computer?
If Askance’s suggestions don’t work, the next thing I would try (well the first thing would be to reset the computer) is resetting the router. I’ve had Linksys routers that would randomly block me from a site for no apparent reason, resetting the router cleared it up.
I had a similar problem with the Gamespot network for months until I finally figured out it was because my firewall had somehow blocked their adserver. Probably it serves ads all over the web and I just happened to notice it on Gamespot in particular, but it’s one more thing to consider.
