My wife and I bought some onions and garlic a while ago that we forgot about. When I finally found them in the pantry some had sprouted.
If I now plant then in will I end up with more onions and garlic, or just a nice flowering plant?

Yes, you can plant the onions, the leaves will continue to grow. And Allium species do produce flowers, small, white and scented like onions or garlic. You can use the stems as green onions, and when Autumn comes, you can dig up new onions and garlic.
You can plant garlic in the spring, but results won’t be as good as with fall planting (extended exposure to cold is needed for large-sized bulb harvest).
You should be able to get tasty greens if you plant sprouting onions or garlic.
