Can anyone recommend a company for online investing?
What I’d like is to make periodic automatic deposits. That’s it. And while I’ve found one or two sites that will let me do that, I would like to hear if there are any companies that people would recommend I look into, or warn me to avoid at all costs.
I would be happy to help if I can. What type of investments do you plan to buy? Stocks, mutual funds, bonds? Do you plan to trade them actively, or hold them for long periods of time? Roughly how much do you anticipate depositing on a monthly basis, or do you plan to just electronically send a contribution when you are able to?
I am a big fan of ShareBuilder. It allows for you to create a nice well-balanced investment plan without having to invest large amounts of money each month.
I think you are doing the right thing, start now and invest in a steady manner and your investments will grow.
fruitbat, I plan on buying mutual funds and I don’t plan on trading them actively (readjusting every so often (annually or semi-annually), but for the most part, I don’t plan on touching it). I do plan on making regular deposits (monthly) but they’re going to be quite small. (well, at least compared to some investors)
Khadaji, ShareBuilder is one of the sites I looked at, especially since it seemed to allow smaller deposits without horrible fees.
